Meet Andrew, aka "Woody", our inspiring Partner Enablement Lead turned author, who transformed his own mental health journey into a resource to help others. 🌟 This is his story: “A few years ago, I was dealing with several challenges at once—work struggles, a rocky relationship, and my grandfather was very sick. It all got too heavy, and I found myself in a dark place. After a number of therapy sessions, my psychologist suggested I write about my experience. At first I thought she was joking, but that’s how Light was born. I wanted to create something simple yet meaningful. If you’re severely depressed, it can be quite overwhelming to read a whole book. Light is something you can read in three minutes, but still leaves you with practical tools for managing anxiety and depression. My biggest hope when writing it was to make sure that people across Australia are engaged in positive conversations about mental health and are empowered to reach out for support when they need it. The message is clear: even in your darkest moments, there is always hope. Because wherever there is shadow, there must also be light. I want everyone to know things can and do get better, even if they can’t feel it at the time.” This World Mental Health Day, read Light and share it with those who might need a little hope today: www.find-light.help 💜 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealth #Awareness #Light #Support

When cancer runs in your family, the fight becomes personal. Meet Jon, one of our Senior Change Managers here at AP+, whose advocacy work took him to Parliament House in Canberra last month to call for change. 💜 Alongside nine others in his family, Jon carries the BRCA2 gene mutation, a legacy that has claimed the lives of his father and two uncles. In front of politicians and key policymakers, he took to the stage to help launch Breaking the Cycle: Insights from the Inherited Cancers Australia Community, a powerful new report aimed at driving change in the fight against inherited cancers. His passionate speech called for action in three key areas: •  Recognising family health histories •  Starting critical conversations about inherited cancer risks •  Approaching these discussions with empathy and care. Inherited Cancers Australia (formerly Pink Hope) is a charity committed to breaking the cycle of inherited cancer by educating Australian families of their health history, providing evidence-based resources, and connecting them to a supportive community. You can catch Jon in their latest awareness campaign at your local shopping centre: “Cancer can be inherited. So can knowledge.” Read their full report to learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/girg4JPB #InheritedCancers #Community #Change #Health #Advocacy

We’re delighted to announce the rollout of Merchant Choice Routing (MCR) on transactions made via mobile wallets has kicked off. More and more payments made using a mobile device can be routed via the lower cost eftpos network, if merchants choose to do so. Why is that important? Reserve Bank of Australia data shows eftpos is 40% cheaper on average for debit cards. With almost 50% of transactions now being made via mobile wallets, that’s a huge potential to lower the cost of payments in Australia. In further good news, we’ve also announced lower eftpos fees for eligible small businesses. Lowering the cost of payments in Australia is a fundamental part of purpose – right across all our payment schemes.
