Mining hoses – do you know how they're made? If you’re installing a mining hose in your process plant, it’s handy to know what it's made of and how it's built. In this article and video, we take you through each layer and the manufacturing process to go from raw material to mining hose. 👉 https://hubs.li/Q02TmXdL0 #mineralprocessing #mining

Working on a new pipeline project? You need to read this. In 2022, the project team at a copper mine in Türkiye contacted us to see if we could help troubleshoot liner issues on their 4km tailings pipeline. They were using polyurethane lined piping but were concerned about its longevity. We analysed a sample of the existing pipeline and discovered two key issues: 1⃣ There was poor adhesion between the liner and the pipe wall. That had caused the delamination and tearing. 2⃣ The original PU formulation wasn’t suitable for the highly corrosive application. So, the liner was wearing out quicker than anticipated. Poor polyurethane adhesion and formulation is a major problem in pipelines. Delaminated liner material can be sucked into slurry pumps, which can become a costly problem in both repairs and downtime. If the wrong formulation is used, it will drastically decrease the wear life of the pipeline. The project team selected Abrasiguard polyurethane lined piping to avoid these problems. It’s the best option for severe service pipelines. Our Brisbane team got to work to manufacture 4,000m of Abrasiguard piping in 13 weeks. It has undergone our stringent testing and quality assurance protocols, so they can be confident that it’s built to last. #miningnews #mining #miningindustry #copper

Piping wear is a fact of life, but knowing what kind of wear you’re dealing with helps you make better maintenance decisions. Here’s the four most common wear types you’ll see in your process plant piping – and how to prevent them so your plant is running at peak performance. https://lnkd.in/g6-ZAABN #mining #miningengineering #mineralprocessing

There’s three things you need from dredge hoses. They should be: ✅ Buoyant ✅ Robust ✅ Long-lasting Back in 2021, we worked with the Port of Brisbane to design and build dredge hoses for their statewide dredging operations. This included three DN650 dredge hoses ranging in size from 3.5m-12m. The hoses have a wear resistant internal layer, as well as built-in, high-density foam to provide buoyancy without the need for floats. Pictured here is Thanh Do with one of the hoses before it was installed. He’s one of our master hose builders at our Brisbane factory, where we custom make every Slurryflex hose. The hoses have now been in operation for more than three years and going strong. We’re confident they’ll be going for many more. #australianmanufacturing #dredging #marineengineering

What do you do when a flexible mining hose just isn’t flexible enough? That was the problem the engineers at Hatch were having when designing FMG’s Iron Bridge plant. They needed a flexible mining hose to cope with significant thermal movement from the HDPE gravity launder pipe—up to 420mm of movement in operation. Rigid pipe was an automatic ‘no’ because it wasn’t flexible enough. And most mining hoses they looked at weren’t suitable because they knew they would kink. That’s why they decided to go with Slurryflex SF-Series Superflex mining hose. It’s the only hard wall slurry hose available that can reach a bend radius of 4-7D – and withstand the highly abrasive iron ore slurry. That means longer wear life and better overall plant performance. #mining #miningnews #processengineering

Predictable maintenance: A pipe dream or achievable? 👀 Back in 2020, the rubber-lined steel elbows in Mineral Resources’ Mt Marion process plant would start leaking after only four weeks. It was frustrating for the team to diagnose, maintain and eventually replace🤯. Lithium is brutal on slurry piping. The sharp, coarse particles will destroy most rubber lined spools within months. That’s why we recommended they change to ceramic-lined mining hose. In our experience, it’s the best option for long-lasting slurry piping in lithium plants. The Mt Marion team decided to go one step further and add a wear monitor to the DN150 Slurryflex CLX bend. It allows them to easily check the remaining wear life and predict when they will need to replace it. Instead of replacing every few weeks, they now get more than 12 months out of the Slurryflex CLX hose 🏅. 12x longer than rubber-lined steel. Planned and predictable piping maintenance is exactly what they needed. The Mt Marion team can now set and forget those high wear spots and focus on other maintenance problems. #lithium #mining #mineralprocessing #processengineering #miningengineering

Ditching rubber-lined and HDPE pipe under the spiral launders has led to a 10x longer piping lifespan in the de-sands plant at FMG’s Cloudbreak mine. The fast wear rate on the spiral launder piping was causing costly downtime in between shutdowns. After reviewing the problem, we provided the plant team with three practical recommendations to fix the issue: 1. Manage severe sliding abrasion on the straight piping geometry with Abrasiguard 2. Reduce wear rate on the bends with Slurryflex mining hose that can better absorb and dissipate impact 3. Eliminate end connection wear by bore matching the pipework The result? The piping has lasted 10x longer than the rubber-lined steel pipe, and 20x longer than the HDPE-lined pipe. How did Roy Hill's reliability team achieve 10x better wear life in their slurry piping? _ Back in 2020, the team found that recurring maintenance issues had cost them 5 million tonnes of lost production in just six months. They were stuck constantly bandaging the rubber lined piping in their desands plant. In order to fix this cycle of bandaging and short term replacements, they chose to use our SlurryIQ process to fix the root cause of their piping issues: Step 1: 3D Scanning Step 2: Design & Optimisation Step 3: Supply of Optimised Piping Step 4: Drawings and Catalogue Data The result? 10x better wear life in critical areas of the plant and no more quick fix mode. No more fast wearing, leaking piping. Swipe to see how they did it 👉 Read the full case study on our website: https://lnkd.in/gpX85fCu #slurrypiping #slurryiq #mining #mineralprocessing
