Tarong’s maintenance program has gone to great heights for safe and reliable electricity supply! We’ve just completed an 18-month project to refurbish one of Tarong Power Station’s iconic cooling towers. These structures are crucial for condensing steam back into water for reuse in electricity generation. 👷Around 50 workers dedicated 27,000 hrs to the project. ⚡️89 square metres of concrete repaired - removing and replacing all cracked and damaged sections for lasting durability. ⚡️ 4,881 sacrificial anodes installed - protecting the tower’s reinforcement ⚡️ 1,620 square metres of high-strength cables added - reinforcing the tower with extra strength and resilience. This project is a significant milestone in our year-round maintenance program, ensuring we continue to generate affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity for customers, Queensland and the National Electricity Market.

Our client required access to the perimeter of this chimney to install a strengthening ring. Instead of building from the ground up, the Benchmark Scaffolding team built the scaffold modules on the ground and then craned them into position.
