From Indonesia, he shared: ‘It was great to celebrate with alumni in Jakarta, recreating our graduation traditions in a ballroom packed with families and friends. A major highlight was honouring three eminent alumni: Prof Jimly Asshiddiqie, Prof Todung Mulya Lubis and Wendy Sui Cheng Yap. 🏆 The Faculty has been bursting with activity this winter and has an abundance of awards and achievements to celebrate: 🔵 The ARES Rocketry Team came second in the 30K Commercial Off-The-Shelf category of the 2024 Spaceport America Cup. 🔵 Prof Frank Caruso received over $750,000 from the Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge (a partnership between Diabetes UK, JDRF UK and Steve Morgan Foundation) to support research on a new generation of insulins as part of a collaboration led by Prof Christoph Hagemeyer (Monash University). 🔵 Dr Chien Aun C. and Callum Vidler secured Australia's Economic Accelerator (AEA) funding to transform manufacturing with advanced millimetre-wave wireless and edge computing, and progress a novel 3D biofabrication system for the creation of precise models of human health. 🔵 KC8 Capture Technologies won a $5.4 million grant from the Australian Government's Carbon Capture Technologies Program to demonstrate the use of potassium carbonate to remove CO2 from hard-to-abate industries, with Profs Sandra Kentish and Kathryn Mumford and Dr Mengran Li on the team. 🔵 Dr Melissa Kozul was appointed Lecturer in Power Generation & Propulsion in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where she will seek to extend the science underpinning a new class of gas turbines using supercritical CO2 as a working fluid instead of air. 🔵 Dr Mogeng Li was one of 14 early career researchers from the University of Melbourne to share in over $6 million of Australian Research Council funding. 🔵 Finally, the following exceptional students received Airwallex Scholarships: Dillon Blake, Rebecca Wei Chao, Ba Quyen Chu, Angel He, Tony H. Benjamin Hong, Haruki Koh, Yiyu Liu, An Khang Luong, Ngoc Uyen Phuong Nguyen, Olivia Pang, Tianrui Qi, Nova Tasha, Laradell Tria, Hoang Giap Vu, Violet Zheng, Momo Zhou.
