Without wanting to sound like a modern YouTuber’s incessant cry to “Subscribe or Like now,” we’re thrilled to see that nearly 1,000 people are following our page. A huge thank you for your support and care for what we do! If you haven’t followed us yet, maybe you could be our number 1,000 😊. We don't often shout about what we do, but with over 130 years of experience, we feel we've earned the right to advocate for the marginalized and disadvantaged. We've become a voice to governments and corporations, showing them the power and potential of "Best Practice Social Enterprise." Believe it or not, something as small as a page follow helps amplify that voice and creates even more opportunities for us to spread this important message. Blueline is proud to be one of Australia’s leading social enterprises, setting the standard for what a sustainable and successful model can achieve. We’ve faced and overcome the challenges of building a truly inclusive work environment where people of all abilities work side by side, benefiting from both social inclusion and economic participation. Help us share our story and expand the individual and community benefits we’re so proud to provide. Your support is more than just a follow – it’s part of a bigger movement. We all know how important a culture of care and safety is at work. Having just shared with grieving families and commemorated the tragedy of our boiler explosion 50 years ago today, this is certainly something Blueline Laundry takes incredibly seriously. We've kickstarted an organization wide Safety Culture training with the good folk at PeopleWorks, featuring one of the best moustache's in the business Cameron Crawford. It's already so encouraging to see the commitments the team are making to themselves and to each other. 3 training sessions down, about 30 to go 😊

On September 5th, 1974, a tragic boiler accident caused an explosion that claimed the lives of eight people and left 22 others injured. This year, we will gather at the site to mark the 50th anniversary of this profound loss with a service of remembrance and reflection. We invite anyone who wishes to join us in honoring the memories of those who were lost and supporting the families who continue to feel their absence. Please reach out and let us know if you would like to join us or know of any one you think may be connected. While nothing can change the past, we carry forward the legacy of those lost by continuing our mission to support people of diverse abilities, backgrounds, and cultures. We hope they would find pride in who we have become today.

Please support RMHC if you can. Blueline has long been an advocate for the amazing work that Ronald McDonald House Charities does in supporting children and families during incredibly challenging circumstances. We proudly provide daily linen and weekly cleaning services to support the house on a practical level. RMHC is giving leaders of organizations an opportunity to get a deeper look at the day to day workings of the charity and those it supports via a Walk In My Shoes fundraising activity over 24 hours. One of our GM's Allan Dickins will be participating in the event. You can support him and the great work of RMHC here https://lnkd.in/g-x2YSPU

We had the privilege of welcoming Rebecca, Abigail and Natalia from Social Traders to the laundry today. Great to hear what they're doing, introduce them to our team, and even give them a run on the ironer.. with mixed results it's fair to say 😊 Social Traders are absolute champions of Social Enterprise, and are doing a great job helping organizations outwork their social goals whilst working with other like minded enterprises such as WHITEBOX ENTERPRISES LTD to drive important conversations around social procurement across all sectors of state and federal government.

Jordyn is another great example of the power of community and the opportunities it brings. As part of a Hydro Tasmania grant that aimed to help support our woman to succeed, Jordyn was able to attain a medium rigid truck license. Over her 5 years employed at Blueline Laundry, she has been an outstanding mentor to many of our NDIS participants, she has ably worked the laundry floor and handled a range of business support duties, before attaining her license and joining our delivery team to service our regional and metro customers. Jordyn leaves us today. "Acquiring my license through Blueline has allowed me to broaden my career opportunities in truck driving. I will always be grateful to Blueline for the opportunities they have given me. And I will miss the people that I have worked with." she said. Jordyn is taking on a new challenge, hopping behind the wheel for Rio Tinto 😊 We're incredibly proud of all she's achieved and wish her nothing but success.

It's always so encouraging to network and discuss ideas with others that share similar values and a passion for #inclusion and #diversity. Grant and Cathryn had the pleasure of doing just that this week, showing Kushan and Charlie from the Victorian branch of BUSY Ability around our Launceston laundry and discussing the individual and community impact #disabilityemployment provides. We love to connect, so don't hesitate to get in touch with us at any time.

Many of us value diversity as a strength of our community, however the sad reality is that racism and discrimination show their ugly heads more often than any of us would like to believe. At Blueline we are so blessed to work each day as a vibrant and caring community of employees from all backgrounds and cultures. We thrive on that diversity. Yet even just within our own team hides countless stories of discrimination and unfair obstacles to employment that is often quite confronting. Whilst we may only physically share a small part of The Walk with Peter Gutwein over the course of the week, we fully share the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania's commitment to eliminating racism and celebrating the diversity that makes our community a better place to live and work. #Inclusion #Diversity #BluelineLaundry #MeaningfulEmployment #SupportMigrantCommunities #EliminateRacism
