👋The Enhanced Weathering Alliance (#EWA) has officially launched! Enhanced Weathering (#EW) presents one of the most promising, scaleable carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) technologies. In an important milestone for climate innovation, 10 of the world’s leading CDR companies are getting together in the pursuit of scaling this crucial industry globally. The Enhanced Weathering Alliance (EWA) advocates for policy that helps intensify and accelerate carbon removal deployment, to speed up and step up EW's contribution to global climate targets. EWA member companies include: Carbonaught Pty Ltd, Carbonfuture, Carbony, Eion, @Flux, InPlanet, Lithos Carbon, Rock Flour Company, and Silica. EWA is launched with support from Carbon Drawdown Collective Initiative and Cascade Climate. The Carbon Business Council is serving as the Secretariat. Enhanced weathering is a promising carbon removal approach that can leverage existing infrastructure and agronomic practices to rapidly scale.  EW involves spreading rock powders on agricultural land to accelerate the natural carbonate-silicate cycle and permanently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Some fantastic news this week for our young company... The USDA has awarded Carbonaught Pty Ltd, the University of California, Davis and the California Association of Resource Conservation Districts a collaborative grant to kick off our project as part of the Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education (SARE) program, working with farms in California. Submission feedback was great too. "This important proposal provides new options for producers to pollute less, build healthy soils, and reduce agricultural burning, while protecting vulnerable communities that are near production areas." It was the "significant industry support" that clearly helped too, so thank you to our industry supporters and farmers.
