Today, we are excited to announce that the Queensland Government is backing Cauldron Ferm through its Industry Partnership Program (IPP) to develop a cutting-edge precision fermentation contract manufacturing facility in Mackay. This Project aligns with the Queensland new-industry development strategy to develop industries that will be in demand as the world decarbonizes. The IPP supports plans to establish the Cauldron Bio-fab, a new industrial facility in Mackay that will be the first and largest end-to-end contract manufacturer for precision fermented bioproducts in the Asia-Pacific region. This industrial biomanufacturing site will deploy Cauldron’s novel hyper-fermentation technology, a breakthrough continuous fermentation process which significantly reduces costs. By driving down the cost of goods to achieve parity with conventional products, Cauldron’s proprietary platform holds transformative potential for the global bioeconomy across a variety of sectors. “With the support of the Queensland Government, Cauldron is a step closer towards building a first-of-a-kind facility that will produce ingredients used in fibre, fuel, feed and food products at commercial scale,” said Queensland Government Department of State Development and Infrastructure Minister for State Development and Infrastructure Grace Grace. We are honoured to be receiving support from the Queensland Government to develop our first industrial-scale operations in Mackay. This funding enables us to scale our innovative technology as a major milestone in our journey to redefine the scope of biomanufacturing. Join us in celebrating this development of vital infrastructure for the global bioeconomy! Biomanufacturing unlocked.
About us
Founded in 2022, Cauldron is a global biomanufacturer on a mission to realize the full potential of precision fermentation by unlocking price parity for mainstream bio-manufactured goods. By solving historical continuous fermentation challenges to establish a scalable, repeatable continuous process, Cauldron aims to solve the gap in commercially viable biomanufacturing capacity. Developed over more than three decades of R&D, Cauldron’s proprietary hyper-fermentation technology drives significant gains in productivity, generating more volume at less cost, using smaller bioreactors. We're operating today at our commercial demo-facility in regional Australia and working with global clients across the precision fermentation industry to de-risk the path to commercialization. Australian precision fermentation leader Cauldron Ferm announces major milestone with Queensland government support to construct Asia-Pacific's largest contract manufacturing facility for fermentation-derived bioproducts in Mackay. The facility will showcase Cauldron's groundbreaking hyper-fermentation technology, which promises to slash production costs by 50% while boosting output by 20% and requiring 45% less capital expenditure than traditional methods. With an impressive 500,000-liter capacity, the plant is designed to produce over 1,000 tonnes of ingredients annually, serving various industries. As the only company approved for 10,000-liter scale production of precision fermented proteins in Australia, Cauldron Ferm is uniquely positioned to lead the region's biomanufacturing revolution. The company views this facility as a stepping stone in its vision to develop a global network of industrial facilities, and is currently raising Series B funding to support its ambitious expansion plans. #cellag #futureoffood #precisionfermentation #biotech #manufacturing

From continuous fermentation to cheaper feedstocks, how are companies in the fermentation space utilising innovation to make the economics add up? Our Co-founder and CFO David Kestenbaum joined a panel at Future Food-Tech in London to discuss the role that breakthrough fermentation technology plays in improving unit economics. 💡 While different perspectives were represented in the discussion, the panelists shared the sentiment that we need innovation across the tech stack to improve efficiency at all steps in the process. Thanks to Rethink Events for organizing and David Nunn of Better Dairy for moderating an insightful panel conversation. #altproteins #futureoffood #precisionfermentation #biomanufacturing #biotech #bioeconomy
