Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia hosted the CCAA Council Dinner in Sydney overnight, attended by CCAA Council and senior leaders across CCAA membership, industry, and government.
The dinner was an opportunity to welcome new CCAA Councillors in attendance Simon O'Neil, Geoffrey Hazell, Mario Panuccio, (Graeme Johnson an apology). Special guest was Camilla Drover B Eng MAICD Deputy Secretary Infrastructure and Place Transport for NSW who delivered the keynote.
CCAA Vice Chair Vik Bansal facilitated a highly engaging dinner conversation – exploring the critical role that industry & government partnerships play in securing the sustainable supply of construction materials for major infrastructure projects.
Camilla Drover offered great insights on the largest transport infrastructure program Australia has seen, with $41.4 billion invested in NSW projects over the next four years. Projects highlighted included Sydney Light Rail, Parramatta Light Rail, the Sydney Metro network, and the Pacific Highway Upgrade that is set to connect Sydney and Brisbane without the need for a single traffic light.

- TfNSW’s Sustainable Procurement Program, now incorporating Australia's first Engineering, Cost and Carbon Library (ECCL).
- The need for harmonised specifications, to drive further decarbonisation Innovations and opportunity.
- The importance of ensuring public procurement practices reflect government policies on reducing emissions. With the industry attendees reinforcing that this alignment is vital to enabling the collaborative efforts necessary to achieve our collective net-zero goal.
- Quarry approval challenges, which have the potential to impact new supply to market and project delivery.
