We are excited to showcase our latest project in Rose Bay to share our considered approach to the early design stages of our process at CMA. We start all projects with our clients brief followed by a detailed analysis of the site, orientation, neighbours, privacy and council control. The inspiration for the concept often comes from our conversation and brief with the client. In this instance, the client noted their love for long eaves. Carla was drawn to a project called Naoshima Hall by Hiroshi Sambuichi which was the conceptual inspiration for the form of the home. Carla felt this approach would suit the property which has views to Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean visible from the northern aspect of the site. The concept design process for this Rose Bay project started with multiple hand sketches from Carla, where design options were considered and optimum solutions explored within the constraints of the site, controls, brief and budget. The client was excited by the concept presentation phase and used this forum to supply Carla with some slight modification ideas for Carla to test in the design. We look forward to sharing the next stage – Design Development where we take onboard the comments from our clients and develop the design further.
