  • ComfortDelGro's presence in the UK has significantly expanded. Our sister company and wholly-owned subsidiary of ComfortDelGro, CityFleet Networks, is acquiring Addison Lee — London’s leading premium private hire, courier, and black taxi provider—for £269.1 million (AUD$528 million). On completion, the 7,500 drivers and 5,000 vehicles of the Addison Lee network will join CityFleet Networks’ existing private hire and black taxi fleets elsewhere in the UK. This addition will grow ComfortDelGro’s global taxi and private hire network to over 34,000 vehicles. In addition to operating CityFleet Networks in several locations across the UK, ComfortDelGro provides pre-planned and on-demand ground transportation to businesses, as well as private and ride-share transfers to airports, bus and train stations and ports through its recently acquired business, CMAC. The Group also owns and operates Metroline buses and Westbus coaches in London, Adventure Travel buses and coaches in Wales, as well as the Megabus, Scottish Citylink and Irish Citylink inter-city coach services. #teamcomfortdelgro

  • Assaults on bus drivers are unacceptable. Every bus driver deserves to go to work and return home safely at the end of the day. The NT government's proposed legislation of minimum mandatory sentences for attacks on frontline workers acknowledges the value of bus drivers and other essential workers that Australians depend on. We welcome these efforts to protect our drivers and encourage other jurisdictions to do the same.

Chief Executive Officer at CDC Regional Australia Division

As Chair of the Bus Industry Confederation I have been advocating for regulators and legislators to do more to protect Drivers. I want to acknowledge the Press Release from the Northern Territory Government today, stating that legislation is set to be introduced ensuring minimum mandatory sentences for cowardly attacks on front line workers. An excerpt from the release reads as follows and I quote: "Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure, Bill Yan said, assaults on police, paramedics, nurses, doctors, teachers, correction officers, retail and hospitality workers, bus and taxi drivers and any other NT worker who is undertaking work in accordance with their duties was unacceptable". (End Quote) This is a great start, and I would urge other jurisdictions, that if they haven't already done so, to have the courage and the conviction to say, "enough is enough" and take the steps necessary to protect our Drivers. As the Chief Executive Officer of ComfortDelGro's Regional Australia Division, I would like to thank the NTG on behalf of my drivers for the steps they are taking to make their workplace safer. • Another exciting milestone for zero emission buses - this time in regional NSW. Last week the team at CDC Canberra were joined by the media to launch Phase 2 of the Zero Emission Bus trial with Transport for NSW. During this 18-month trial, CDC Canberra and CDC NSW will operate three buses in Queanbeyan and one in Narrabri. Hundreds of school students will be transported each day during the trial. This is an exciting opportunity for CDC to explore how these innovative buses can shape the future of sustainable transport, especially in our regional communities. • Traditionally a male-dominated career, CDC Victoria is proud to be part of a new initiative to see more women getting behind the wheel of a bus. A new program by the Victorian Government aims to see 300 new female drivers on the road over the next three years with $550,000 invested by the Government. An additional $7,500 scholarship is also being offered to 20 women to fund bus mechanic apprenticeships. As one of three operators chosen to deliver this initiative, CDC Victoria brings a wealth of experience in promoting gender diversity. Our successful Driven Women program has already paved the way, inspiring and equipping women to pursue fulfilling careers in the bus industry. This new government-backed project allows us to build on our commitment to creating an inclusive workplace and fostering equal opportunities in public transport. We look forward to sharing with you inspiring stories of our new recruits over the coming months.

  • October is National Safe Work Month – a time to commit to a safe and healthy workplace. The theme for this year is ‘safety is everyone’s business’. This is a theme that resonates deeply with us at ComfortDelGro Australia, as we believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to make health and safety in the workplace a priority. This month, we will be undertaking a variety of activities to encourage everyone to uphold the highest standards of safety and look after their own health, safety and wellbeing, including breaking down the Workplace Health & Safety basics that everyone should know, talking about the fundamentals of risk management, and sharing ways to keep active on the job. #SafetyIsOurBusiness

  • Recycling takes many forms with benefits beyond the environment. CDC Victoria recently donated 2 additional training buses to the team at Fire Rescue Victoria that are being used for accident rescue drills and emergency procedures. This makes it a total of 6 buses they have donated to date, with more on the horizon. This collaboration is about enhancing the training capabilities of FRV and strengthening emergency response services in our region. We hope to continue our efforts to reduce, reuse, recycle, and in this case repurpose our older assets for a bigger cause.

  • It's wonderful to celebrate staff milestones and this is a big one! 🎉 This month, Peter from CDC NT clocks up 30 years with us. As a bus driver in the Northern Territory, Peter’s dedication and commitment to his role have touched the lives of countless passengers. Originally from East Timor, Peter was seeking a secure role that would allow him to apply his experience with heavy vehicles, having driven trucks in his home country. Despite a language barrier, he was drawn to the job because of the stability it offered and the opportunity to connect with people daily. Now, 30 years on, Peter is CDC’s longest serving employee in the Northern Territory. Want to hear more about Peter’s experiences and what it’s like driving through the NT?
