As a part of the Victorian Bioenergy Network's Shepparton Bioenergy Forum on the 8th October 2024, participants were able to take a tour of a recently constructed bioenergy facility in the local area the following day. We toured Australian Consolidated Milk's new bioenergy facility at their cheese making facility at Girgarre. Thanks to Jason Limbrick CEO of ACM for taking the time to share ACM's journey into #bioenergy at the forum and for arranging the visit of the bioenergy facility. It's Stop Food Waste Day and we're taking a look at Australian Consolidated Milk in the Loddon Mallee region, where funding from Sustainability Victoria has enabled new infrastructure to turn cheese waste (yes, that's a thing) into biogas, which can then be transformed into electricity 🧀⚡ By dealing with waste on-site instead of sending it to landfill, the company is not only saving money on waste management but also cutting down on energy costs and creating a more sustainable power source. They expect to divert 967,000 litres of dairy waste from landfill each year. It's just one example of how we're leveraging innovation and investment to build a foundation for Victoria's circular economy 🔄 Parliamentary Secretary for Climate Action, Sheena Watt MP, joined us last week to inspect the facility firsthand. The project is one of 26 supported under the Victorian Government’s $8.5 million Waste to Energy Fund for Bioenergy, which aims to support the state target of net zero emissions by 2045: https://lnkd.in/gJsFfBdQ
