Complex software development is a craft. It might be easy for Devin the AI developer to learn but will be so hard to master. We are proud of our Complexica team - they go above and beyond every day, solving the tough ones for our customers.
AI Devin = end of dev? Devin the AI developer is the most recent example of AI augmenting humans (in this case, software engineers). By automating common use cases, Devin can make human developers more efficient. Some fear Devin might replace human devs altogether. As always, the devil is in the details. Some devs admit this AI may well be a productivity boost - the less complex the code the bigger the boost. However, it could take years for Devin to deliver decent results in a complex environment and for the output to be production-ready. The verdict by the developer community so far: Devin won't necessarily magically turn a "B" dev into an "A" dev - but an "A" dev can potentially become an "A+". And yes, average developers should fear this AI as it may replace them in the not-so-distant future. All the more reason to invest in self-improvement! CHATGPT is turning one today, and what a year it has been! For many, this tool brought AI out of the realm of science and placed it firmly on the radar of everyday folks. General AI (machines capable of thinking like humans) is still stuff of science fiction - and will be for as long as humans are struggling to figure out exactly how our brains work. Narrow AI (solving narrow, specific problems – with ChatGPT as just one example) is advancing at a neck-breaking speed, and it is now more important than ever to have a human at the wheel. AI is getting better at augmenting the human’s natural skills but having an actual human in control - one with the IQ to understand the problem at hand and the EQ to empathise with another human they are solving the problem for - is a crucial ingredient for successful adoption of AI. To stand out in this AI-augmented reality, businesses need to add a human touch, to go the extra mile and do the things that may not make short-term business sense but make perfect “human sense” - that’s where the real competitive advantage is. What this year has shown is that ChatGPT and AI in general is still no replacement for humans (and human connection). It is still “machine x human”, not “machine vs human”. #chatGPTisturningonetoday #AI #AIxhuman
