In the spirit of this year’s World Continence Week theme “Let’s Talk”, this women has opened up to talk about her difficult journey with pelvic floor issues & incontinence. With the help of consulting pelvic floor specialists, she’s been better able to manage the pain & discomfort along with the associated incontinence. It’s World Continence Week, so Let’s Talk! The Continence Foundation of Australia commissioned a consumer survey to gain insights into the community’s perceptions and experience of incontinence, the quality of life and wellbeing of people who experience it, and their carers. A staggering 46% of those surveyed have not discussed their continence related issues with friends or family and 32% of this group says it is because of embarrassment. At Staydry, we're dedicated to enabling people to live confidently fueling our commitment to not just serve but to uplift and support the community. Today marks International Nurses Day, a day to recognise and thank all the nurses who work so tirelessly to care for those in our community. IND is celebrated around the world every 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. We have over 800 nurses in our membership base, including nurse continence specialists, registered nurses, community health nurses, nurse educators and more. Together, your dedication has been instrumental in building an Australian community free of the stigma and restrictions of all aspects of incontinence across the lifespan. We would also like to extend a big thank you to the Nurse Continence Specialists who provide invaluable advice and support to those who call our National Continence Helpline (1800 33 00 66) and through our Clinical Services. Do you support clients who are impacted by incontinence? The Department of Health and Aged Care is conducting a survey to: • inform an independent evaluation of available continence supports • help set the national policy direction for incontinence in Australia. The survey asks for basic health information, and how they use government-funded continence initiatives. All responses will be kept strictly anonymous and confidential.
