🚀 What do lava tubes in the Canary Islands have to do with space exploration? A lot, actually! CSIRO is working with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) to develop a fully autonomous robotic explorer for the Moon and Mars 🌕 Our team recently tested this navigation system in the lava tubes of Lanzarote, a rugged environment similar to extraterrestrial caves. Lava tubes could provide future astronauts with natural shelter, but first, we need AI-powered robots that can map and explore these extreme landscapes.
