🌿 Kambarang: The Noongar Season of Birth and Reawakening 🌼 We’re now in the beautiful Noongar season of Kambarang, a time of warmth, renewal, and new life. Running from October to November, Kambarang marks the shift toward warmer weather, when nature bursts into life🍃 During this season, wildflowers bloom in abundance, and many native plants, like the Balga (grass tree), begin to flower. You'll see more animal activity, with reptiles like bobtails and snakes becoming more active, and baby animals emerging as signs of new beginnings🐣 For the Noongar people, this is a season of gathering bush tucker and enjoying the abundance of resources as food sources become more plentiful. It’s also a reminder of nature’s cycles and the importance of living in harmony with the land🫶 At our place, we’ve been witnessing the magic of Kambarang unfold. When we bought our house, the front garden was overrun with termite-ridden woolly bush, which needed to be removed. Hidden beneath, we uncovered a half-buried beautiful grass tree that’s absolutely thrived since being exposed. This year, in its second year above ground, it’s thrown up a flower spike – a true symbol of Kambarang🌱 We’ve also noticed an influx of young birds, including Pink and Grey Galahs, who’ve taken over our designated possum box (cheeky!), and several young Black Cockatoos, who are frequently fed by their parents in our Marri tree. Our Kangaroo Paws are flourishing, standing out with their size and vivid colors, possibly helped along by the rainbow quartz surrounding them🪷 We’re seeing plenty of other natives thriving too, and just the other day, we discovered a bobtail lizard hiding in our veggie patch – nature’s perfect pest control, helping us out by munching on the snail🦎 🌸Sharing an image from our garden below that are perfectly representative of Kambarang💚 #Kambarang #NoongarSeasons #ReconnectWithNature #Flora #Fauna #DownUnderDiscoveries #NativeGardens #WildlifeInOurBackyard #AussieGarden

Happy World Mental Health Day We were honored to lead a mental health walk this morning, celebrating this day alongside Mental Health Week WA and Outdoors October. These campaigns focus on workplace well-being, community empowerment, and promoting outdoor activity to improve mental health. We had an incredible turnout of 15 participants, with members from the outdoor industry, including representatives from multiple branches of Department of Sport and Recreation, representatives from Paddle WA, Swimming WA, Volleyball WA, and local shires including City of Mandurah, Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale & Shire of Murray. We're grateful they took time out of their busy days to join us, with some traveling from as far as Margaret River in the south and Northam in the north. The walk featured a segment of our soon to be launched Mandurah Seascapes Coastal Walking Tour, blending nature and ocean therapy with visits to Thomas Dambo Giant 'Santi Ikto', and fascinating stories of shipwrecks, culture, and the exploration of ancient limestone forests created during the Quaternary period, which began about 2.58 million years ago (Ice Age). The event concluded with our Down Under signature bush tucker-inspired morning tea, featuring bliss balls, slices, cakes, mixed berries, and herbal teas. It was an inspiring morning spent outdoors, celebrating mental health in nature with such an esteemed group of leaders. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthWeek #OutdoorsOctober #GetOutsideForMentalHealth #Mandurah #NatureTherapy #CoastalWalk #WellbeingAtWork Outdoors WA

This milestone event celebrates Chelle’s ten years of sobriety, marking a decade of transformation and resilience. 𝗔𝗻 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 This hike is not just an adventure; it’s a testament to Chelle Fisher's incredible journey from overcoming family domestic abuse and a 23-year struggle with addiction to thriving as an advocate for mental health and nature therapy. Celebrating 10 years sober, Chelle's journey is particularly remarkable because, in February 2023, she couldn't hike for more than five minutes, climb stairs, or even complete simple tasks without exhaustion. After years of misdiagnoses, an MRI revealed her struggles were due to impinging nerve roots, disc bulges, herniated discs, and tears in her spine. Chelle embarked on a year-long rehabilitation journey and now prepares to trek through the ancient gorges she once roamed, this challenge represents more than just a physical milestone. It's a celebration of resilience, a testament to the power of perseverance, and a journey of self-discovery. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 Chelle’s story showcases her remarkable transformation. Swapping hangovers and alcohol for hiking, she discovered a path to mental clarity, health, and happiness.
