Thank you Fifty+SA for this consumer article about "right sizing" when a new era and lifestyle changes look appealing. Many people (importantly though, not everyone) would like to make the move to ‘right size’ their home and free up capital. It might be that their health needs or lifestyle wishes are better suited to a different type of property. This article delves into key factors, from location and community considerations, because, when you start this journey, these elements will play a crucial role in shaping your lifestyle and continue to make sure you get MORE out of life! @fiftyplussa Anwar D. We were recently honoured with a visit by local MP Olivia Savvas, who spent almost an hour with our Peer Connector Pat and resident Joan viewing the SALA @ Encore exhibition. They shared stories of the whole art experience, they discussed the revitalisation of the Encore Art Group and art groups across other ECH communities and how everyone is developing their own artistic styles. Olivia commented how diverse the artist talents were. Showcasing more than 60 original artworks by the retirement village’s art group. The SALA @ Encore artworks are on free display to the public at Encore Village, ECH’s vertical retirement village in Modbury. Encore is open to the public 11am – 2pm every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday every week throughout the SALA Festival. Each of the original artworks were created by one of the more than 10 retirees who attend the village’s art group, led by ECH team member Pat Wundersitz. Thank you to Fifty+SA for sharing the story! https://lnkd.in/ggm6c6Y6

Mallala and Districts Lions Club received a donation of 100 ‘bushfire bags’ in readiness for this summer’s bushfire season. Each bushfire bag consists of a waterproof, duffle-style bag filled with clean and nearnew wool blankets that were surplus to ECH’s needs, along with a wind-up torch, radio and hard hat. “Assistance and generosity have been at the core of our organisation since we were founded some 60 years ago,” said ECH CE Claire Scapinello. Lions Clubs International Mallala and Districts Lions Club opened the Emergency Relief and Command Centre in November 2023, eight years on from the horrific Pinery bushfire which burnt through more than 250 square kilometres of the Adelaide Plains, destroying homes and claiming lives. “We believe that it’s important to support the communities in which ECH’s customers and team members live and work, so we’re thrilled that we could donate these bushfire bags to a recipient as worthy as the Mallala and Districts Lions Club,” she said.

Our wonderful residents Kaye and Bob featured in this story about the benefits of downsizing...

There’s an affordable housing solution for older Australians across the country - and it’s hiding in plain sight. It was great to catch up with Seven Network’s Andrea Nicolas in Adelaide this week to discuss the latest PwC-Property Council of Australia Retirement Census. In Adelaide, retirement units are 44% cheaper than the median house price in the same postcodes. As always, people tell the best stories - like ECH Inc. residents Kaye and Bob Walker. Fabulous contributions from Claire Scapinello and Village Guru Rachel Lane.

"The Face" is by Denis Brine who says "I have always loved sketching so when I arrived here at Encore, I joined Pat’s art class which has been enjoyable and with a lovely group of people. I do enjoy sketching." The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a statewide festival of visual art which was established in 1998 to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in South Australia. While celebrating our 60th year, we will highlight the creativity within our ECH Encore community, to engage with both the local community and the broader audience that SALA attracts. There is creativity in every corner at Encore. SALA @ ENCORE 85 Smart Road, Modbury Tues, Thurs, Sat 11-2pm
