Another successful waste-free event: 450 attendees and not a single piece of trash! I haven't even started cleaning up yet. Huge thanks to Broadway Academy, the children, parents, family, and friends. Artists truly are an exceptional group who care deeply for our community and the environment.

The problem is that, while this isn't my main area of interest, I do know how cardboard boxes are made. It would be much simpler and more efficient to produce a complete carton rather than shrink-wrapping it afterward. This approach seems a bit absurd. You've taken a blank from a magazine, folded and glued one end, inserted the product, and glued the other side—now all that’s left is to fold and glue the top. Why complicate things with shrink-wrapping? Additionally, this method creates two separate waste streams: one for plastic and another for cardboard. In most cases, both will end up in the trash. In my area, we need to minimize waste streams this improves efficiency by at least 60%.

Sydney is set to run out of landfill space by 2030, which presents a significant challenge for waste management in the region. One effective solution is to increase the use of reusable items at events. In Queensland alone, there have been over 77,000 events. Just imagine the amount of waste we could divert from landfills if we implemented reusable systems across all these gatherings! Not only does this approach minimize waste, but it also saves money for venues and event organizers. The best part? We are fully mobile and operational, making it easy to bring our reusable solutions directly to the events. By choosing reusables, we can not only help protect the environment but also create a more sustainable future for our communities. Let’s work together to make every event a greener one! We work best when we work together.

Picture an event where we pour from kegs, wine casks, or soda machines into reusable cups. It’s a completely waste-free gathering, with only the items attendees bring themselves contributing to any waste. Funny how these things always start as a bit of, a sort of, kind of idea. I'll drink to that

For me, life is pretty straightforward: "promote what you want to see." Whether you're coaching a football team, teaching in a school, managing a public transport system, or working on national CO2 strategies, the focus should be on promoting positive initiatives rather than highlighting negatives. This principle applies to reusable products as well. If you want to see them used more widely, you need to actively encourage their adoption. Here are three ways to do this: Provide grants or host events that utilize reusables. Withdraw funding from events that don’t use them. Financially support the scaling of the reusable industry through legislation and scaling grants. Unfortunately, what we often see is the opposite approach. Reuse stops landfill usage Reuse prevents waste removal Reuse lowers CO2 emissions Reuse stops waste from entering the environment Reuse lowers costs Reuse reduces the need for industrial composting Reuse decreases the need for recycling Government funds millions for composting, waste removal, and recycling Little to no funding allocated for reuse initiatives Question: Am I missing something?

Every day (almost) i walk my red healer 10mins (according to me, if you ask the dog its 2min) along Bowen rd. The end of Bowen rd is the ross river. Ross river outlets to the sea near the barrier reef.So what happens if it rains. Queensland needs to ban these.

I really did not want to go to this event. The people who run it are fantastic and all volunteers. The public are brilliant I wish we could just get some people to understand that this is just wrong. Until this affects their income they will not accept change.
