Too often, elder abuse remains hidden due to shame, stigma and under-reporting. At EAAA, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire change. We’re launching a new podcast series called ‘Breaking the Silence’, to amplify the voices of lived and living experience. If you or someone you know has experience of elder abuse and would like to share their story, we invite you to contact us and be part of this pilot program. Email info@eaaa.org.au with the following details: * Your name and contact details * Where in Australia you’re located * A summary of the story you’d like to share. Limited spots are available for this pilot program – submissions close on 28 February. Participants can remain anonymous and support will be provided throughout the process. Please share this with your networks - help us to break the silence one story at a time.

If you’re caring for someone out of love, relationship, kindness, necessity or obligation rather than payment, you’re among the 12% of Australians who are ‘unpaid carers’– and you may be experiencing carer stress or even abuse. Unpaid (or ‘informal’) carers report experiencing physical, emotional and financial stress at much higher levels than the general population. Feelings of burnout, isolation, exhaustion and under-appreciation are common. And some carers experience abuse by the person receiving care.
