Inspiring words from Sanku Bose, PhD, CEO of Techno India Education Group: Switching sides of the table, I’ve seen the true value of collaborative learning—a shift from traditional monologues to dynamic, interactive discussions. Imagine the impact if we made this approach a part of daily education! It’s about empowering students to learn by doing, not just observing. Two news articles from Hindustan Times this week caught my eye and forced me to think of where we are headed. In the first article, a woman sued an AI company over her son's suicide. She says in her lawsuit "Character.Al targeted her son, with "anthropomorphic, hypersexualised, and frighteningly realistic experiences" She said the company programmed its chatbot to "misrepresent itself as a real person, a licensed psychotherapist, and an adult lover, ultimately resulting in her son's desire to no longer live outside" of the world created by the service." A recent movie #CTRL was eeringly close to this case and (spoiler alert), it didn't end up well. The second article talks about the certainty that AGI is on its way, and that we don't know what it will look like or be capable of doing. "A misaligned superintelligent AGI could cause grievous harm to the world; an autocratic regime with a decisive superintelligence lead could do that too," OpenAl noted in a statement in February 2023. AGI would make chatgpt look rudimentary. The top AI players are going full steam ahead to usher in AGI. Should we be sceptical, alarmed, frightened? All of them, and for good reason. But I am still an eternal optimist and a firm believer in humanity's (and Nature's) ability to survive and thrive. We are still living after inventing the nuclear power, and we will figure this out too. AGI will help us execute the #SDGs better and faster, without paying a huge price for it 🤞 We need to arm our young generation with the right skills to tackle this challenge, and not feel overwhelmed. Change is inevitable and we better be prepared. #Foodforthought #Sundaymusings #AIskilling Employabilitylife
