🌟Meet Tierrah Miller, one of our Business Support Officers at Energy Policy WA. Tierrah has been at Energy Policy WA for almost 18 months, and helps keep our office running smoothly, doing general administration work and providing any additional support the various teams within EPWA might need. More recently, Tierrah has begun handling Ministerial processes, ensuring requests from the Minister for Energy’s office are handled in a timely and effective manner according to procedure. Tierrah is appreciated by her work colleagues at EPWA for her consistent hard work and quiet diligence. Outside of work, Tierrah is an accomplished athlete. She made her debut for the East Perth Football Club in the WAFLW earlier this year, winning best on ground. More recently, she was named in the team of the tournament after competing in the First Nations Netball Tournament in Melbourne. The same weekend, she won Koongamia Football Club’s Best and Fairest award. Tierrah has said her main role model is Olympic gold medallist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, a track athlete who has broken the world record in the 400 metre hurdles events six times over the course of her career.  When not efficiently handling Ministerial procedures or winning sporting accolades, Tierrah loves to simply “do nothing” - which is fair enough given how hard she works, both at EPWA and on the training ground.

On Friday, the inaugural Goldfields Region Electricity Forum took place in Kalgoorlie. The Goldfields region is an economic hub, with the mining, metals, and minerals industries making it as important to the Western Australian economy today as it was during the gold rushes of the 19th century. Given this, the region is a key part of our State’s renewable energy future. The Goldfields Region Electricity Forum was about planning for this future, securing the reliable supply of energy to the region and ensuring it continues to prosper. The forum brought together Aboriginal people from the region, industry and government to investigate the potential of a new electricity network – the Goldfields Regional Network (GRN). This proposed privately-led common-use electricity network would enhance energy reliability in the region, while harnessing its world-class renewable resources to meet future demand. Together, we're tackling the unique opportunities and challenges of the renewable energy transformation in the Goldfields and working to create a stronger, more resilient energy system. The State Government has launched an Expressions of Interest process, inviting submissions from eligible common-use Pilbara transmission projects to be considered for Priority Project status under the Pilbara Energy Transition (PET) Plan. On 26 September 2024, Energy Policy WA hosted an online information session about this Expressions of Interest process, to provide further information on the process and inform submissions from potential project proponents. A recording of this event, along with other related content, is now available on the Energy Policy WA website. https://lnkd.in/gkk6Tq58
