One of our members, the University of Canberra, proudly have The Centre For A Better Canberra (FAB CBR) at their campus which is a think tank and public engagement body with the objective of advocating for the interests of the Canberra community and bridging the gap between the University’s resources and the functional needs of Canberrans. Earlier this year, the FAB CBR team (Martin Greenwood, Chris Wallace, Jan Shaddock, Jack McDermott and Gonzalo Cubillo de Regoyos) undertook its first policy project: ‘Thriving Canberra 2024: Better and Fairer Utilisation of CFZ land in Canberra’ with a report on the issue, published on August 22, which identified 10 key recommendations to enhance community outcomes. Hosted at the Australian Catholic University, the forum highlighted best practices, discussed challenges, and paved the way for future-focused strategies aimed at deepening partnerships between universities and their communities.
