We recently hosted our inaugural #Decarbonising the Building Industry (DBI) Workshop at our Nathan campus, themed “The Role of Forests in Decarbonising the Construction Industry.” Partnering with Responsible Wood and the Researcher Network for DBI (Decarbonising the Building Industry), the event brought together experts to share insights and solutions.   EBE’s Professor Hong Guan opened the session with insights into Griffith University's #research on #decarbonisation. The workshop featured four impactful presentations on how forests can help reduce carbon footprints in construction: 🌳 Simon Dorries (Responsible Wood) on new ISO standards for forest carbon and supply chain traceability. 🌳 Bill Leggate (Queensland Government) discussing the opportunities and challenges of Australian forest resources. 🌳 Stephen Mitchell (EPD Australasia) on Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and their role in sustainable business practices. 🌳 Monica Richter (MECLA) addressing the potential of timber in fostering a regenerative future.   Participants actively engaged in roundtable discussions, pinpointing key areas for exploration by the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. A heartfelt thank you to fellow presenters: Dr Behzad Rismanchi (UoM), Prof Tuan Ngo (UoM), A/Prof Benoit Gilbert, and Mr Matt de Jongh (Responsible Wood). 🦘🇦🇺International Collaboration Announcement 🇰🇷🐅 We are thrilled to share the news that Griffith University and Korea Aerospace University (KAU) have officially signed an articulation agreement and memorandum of understanding (MOU). This significant collaboration will pave the way for KAU's Bachelor of Management students to seamlessly transition into Griffith University's Bachelor of Aviation Management under a 2+2 double degree program, ultimately enabling them to graduate with both degrees. Prof JIN-WOO PARK and Prof Tim Ryley's exceptional leadership has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. Beyond the initial agreement, the MOU sets the stage for #GriffithAviation and KAU to explore further opportunities for collaboration, including an interchange program, joint research initiatives, and joint grant applications.
