The frequency illusion is the fact that when we learn about something new, we tend to see it everywhere. It's why Punch Buggy as a game works. You never see VW Beetles until you start playing and then BOOM! VW Beetles are everywhere. This is because when you are made aware of something, that information remains in front of your mind. Because you have that information in front of your mind you can identify it more frequently than not. You can leverage the frequency illusion to help drive the retention of key learning or actions. Something key to maintaining new skills. After all, if we learn something and don't use it, we lose it!
