Kingston's newest shopping centre is one step closer! ERA’s planning team are thrilled our Development Application for Spring Farm Village was approved by Kingborough Council last week. Spring Farm Village is Tipalea Partners’ follow up to the celebrated Glebe Hill Village shopping centre, which raised the bar in 2022 to become Tasmania's most technologically and environmentally advanced neighbourhood centre. Sitting on the Channel Highway, this new development will create over 1200 new jobs across 15 retailers and service providers. In a convenient location to serve Kingborough's growing population, it also makes a perfect stop off for those continuing their travel further south. This isn't our first planning venture with Scott Spanton and the team at Tipalea. You can see the difference when developers go above and beyond in the pursuit of high-quality outcomes. It's always a pleasure to collaborate with a team that is so genuine about engaging with and meeting community needs. Keep an eye on the Spring Farm Village website for the latest updates. Construction begins early 2025. 📸 Spring Farm Village visualisation by project architect i2C Architects #eraplanningandenvironment #developmentapplication #commercialdevelopment #tasmania #nipaluna #kingborough

We’re excited to share that the Burnie Settlement Strategy has been unanimously endorsed 🎉 This strategic document pairs Burnie's unique context with best planning practice to help shape a vibrant future for the city. It’s been a great team effort between ERA, BURNIE CITY COUNCIL and people of Burnie. We were blown away by the community’s interest in driving change. Their positive input played a huge part in shaping what the strategy has become. We’re also proud of the work the team put into delivering a document that’s user friendly by design. The final result is recommendations that are concise, easy to work with and (most importantly) fit for purpose. Congratulations to our principal planner Monica Cameron, who did an incredible job driving this project forward. Her unique perspective, from attending school in Burnie to planning for its future, lent a lot to the strategy’s success. We’re looking forward to seeing what happens next as Burnie and the community drive their future opportunities 👏 📸 Moon Cheese Studio #burnie #strategicplanning #tasmania #lutruwita #settlementstrategy #eraplanningandenvironment

We’re happy to share our latest social housing approval, this time in Northern Tasmania. Latrobe will soon have 6 new units for priority social housing applicants that have nominated the area as a preferred place to live. When teaming up with Housing Choices Australia Tas, we know it’ll be a project that understands the importance of high-quality design outcomes in providing stable, long-term housing. Architecturally designed by Core Collective Architects to prioritise energy efficiency and allow aging in place, the homes feature both private and communal garden spaces, the latter beautifully designed by SBLA Studio to encourage social connection. While the scale of Tasmania’s housing needs can seem insurmountable, every approval makes an impact. We’re happy to celebrate each contribution towards larger change, whether it’s 6 new homes or 60. Keep an eye out for updates over the coming months as construction gets underway. 📸 Bells Parade, Latrobe City Council #eraplanningandenvironment #socialhousing #planningapproval #latrobe #tasmania #lutruwita

Last week PIA Tasmania took over the stunning University of Tasmania Inveresk Campus for two days as the setting of our 2024 PIA Tasmania State Planning Conference. Launceston provided an amazing backdrop, with great weather for our four study tours and networking events. Inside 'The Workshop', delegates heard from speakers from Tasmania and interstate on the challenges the state is wrestling with in the face of rapid change. To see more of what happened at this year's PIA TAS State Conference check out our album on Flickr ⬇ https://lnkd.in/exUy_stz The 2024 PIA TAS State Planning Conference would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Talking about how you’re really doing at work can be hard. While it can be easy to shrug off the effectiveness of a quick check in, studies show that we vastly underestimate how much those around us appreciate being reached out to. Even a small personal gesture can make a difference. The 2024 theme for R U OK? Day is Ask R U OK? Any Day. As a business, we interpret this as a call to go beyond the annual organised reminder (or worse, a tick box exercise). When we think about creating lasting support, we think about the importance of cultivating a culture where colleagues genuinely care about each other. We also think about systems we can put in place that give staff flexibility to take a breather when it’s needed. At ERA we’re working at going beyond with initiatives like flexible workflows and arrangements that allow us to respond to life’s ups and downs as a team, and additional six-monthly health and wellbeing leave that staff can use to take time for themselves, no questions asked. Checking in is important, but what else can we do to build connection and support into our every day? We’re always looking to how we can do things better - let us know what your workplace approach is. 📸 Jesse Hunniford #RUOKday #eraplanningandenvironment #lutruwita #tasmania

It’s heartening to see such a direct implementation of a strategic report. Based on our recommendations in the Old Beach Zoning Review, ‘Precinct A’ has now been rezoned from Rural Living to Future Urban Zone. ERA’s planning and engagement teams worked with Council and the community to investigate the potential of two Old Beach precincts to support future growth. With Brighton’s growing residential demand and Old Beach’s unique characteristics at its core, the review delivered a suite of options for achieving best-practice development and a clear road map for next steps. We work hard to balance the practical and aspirational in our strategic recommendations. The goal is always to ensure strategic reports don’t just sit on the shelf, so we couldn’t be happier with this result. Thank you to BRIGHTON COUNCIL for their work in taking the report and our recommendations forward. We’re excited to see where the upcoming masterplan and engagement work takes the precinct. 📸 Samuel Shelley and Brighton Council #eraplanningandenvironment #oldbeach #brighton #strtegicplanning #rezoning #lutruwita #tasmania

Officially endorsed 🎉 Congratulations to Connie Steers, Caroline Lindus and the wider project team for their hard work on the Glamorgan Spring Bay Structure Plans. We also want to say a big thank you to Council and the community for their generous contributions. Though they share an East Coast location, Bicheno, Swansea, Coles Bay and Orford-Triabunna are very different towns. We loved getting to know the unique characteristics, strengths and challenges that influence each community in 2024. We’ll hand over to Glamorgan Spring Bay Council’s announcement below, which says it best: ________________ We are pleased to announce that the Structure Plans have been officially endorsed. 🎉 Thank you to everyone who took the time to get involved, share your feedback, and contribute to these important documents. Your input has been invaluable in shaping the future of our main communities. The Structure Plans will guide land use over the next 10 to 15 years, serving as a local strategy for both Council and the State Government. These plans will be instrumental in developing and assessing proposals that seek to change or amend our planning scheme and will help implement the Southern Tasmanian Regional Land Use Strategy. Next steps? We’ll be working to identify priority actions for land use and the supporting actions needed to move forward. Stay tuned for updates on how these plans will shape our community's future!
