THATS'S A WRAP.... Connection is a powerful thing. Feeling a part of something, being part of a village and finding belonging. Last week we really filled our buckets with connection, something we as a team all needed. So great to be out meeting so many brilliant humans. The highlights this week: 1- The Bowens Women in Trades event on Friday was an incredible experience. A vibrant event of celebration, connection and fun- what a great way to end the work week! We got to see some of you who told us stories of the impact EWIT had had on your career including Niki who attended an EWIT session and took on a new role because of it. Thanks to Bowens for having us. #grateful 2- The Freestyle Program with North Melbourne FC held a Women in Trades networking event at Arden Street which was driven by the Apprenticeship Support Australia team. We heard from AFLW superstar Libby Birch and heard incredible stories of success, resilience and drive from Laura Pollard & Stephanie Castaldo. Thanks to Access Workwear & Safety for the gifts and promotion of all things safety. 3- Jaz hosted an informative session for Career Practioners at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners in Moorabbin to showcase career pathways in Manufacturing thanks to Department of Education SPP Funding. The team got to tour the facility, undertake some quality control exercises and discover the importance of looking after psychological safety of students when navigating career pathways. 4- Mel & Caz attended the CitiPower and Powercor Women in Trades event in Melbourne delivering a session on psychological safety, navigating through bias and understanding the ladder of inference and the sources of information we use to form decisions, opinions and at times unconscious bias. 5- New friends were made at the Tri Safety Forum thanks to Laing O'Rourke. Great to connect with the team from Panku Safety Solutions Pty Ltd and hear about how they can support with your safety needs but also the stories of social impact they have in the community. #beagoodhuman Want to join the village? Throwback to this time last week when we were gearing up for our first ever Women in Trades networking event sponsored by BHP in Newcastle! What a brilliant morning spent with 45 epic humans who came to connect and meet their community. We heard from Lake Macquarie City Council Mayor Adam Shultz about the skills needs of the region, heard about the BHP operations in the region and opportunities including mentoring scholarships with Louise Azzopardi and enjoyed a delicious brekkie thanks to the team at Bunnings. These events are in collaboration with the amazing teams from Carpentry Australia and Apprenticeship Support Australia and are so vital for well-being, connection and accessing support. This event saw an employer attend to gain mentoring support for an apprentice, a dad with two young daughters came to show them that you can be anything you want to be, an apprentice came on her own as she doesn't work with any other women and two apprentices connected and have scheduled an opportunity to have dinner- all in 2 hours! Where should we bring a networking event to next? Comment below! Want to be like the amazing humans at BHP and sponsor an event? DM us for more information. Thank you to Bunnings for hosting us- we greatly appreciate the support. #30by30 #ittakesavillage #networking #ewitrades #newcastle Hannah Keirl Nathan Quinn Jake McArthur Matthew Spencer Lucinda Shilcock Megan Rice Peter Moore Chris Durrant James Fox Louise Azzopardi Bianca Cousin Kevin Baker
