THAT'S A WRAP.... This week our thoughts have very much been with Queensland and Northern NSW as they endured an incredibly long week of unknown. The experience will be different for everyone so as the clean-up begins, and things start to return to normal remember it's okay to not be okay and the village is here to support you. The week that was for the EWIT Team: 1- Jaz kicked off our first schools program for 2025 kicked off with Yarra Ranges Tech School - Box Hill Institute for 45 engaged students as we explored plumbing, carpentry and electrical. Always amazing to watch the sparkle grow in someone's eye as they become more and more excited by the activity they are undertaking. #pipeline 2- Caz joined the team from Lendlease & Box Hill Institute for the second Tradie Bootcamp and delivered a session around psychological safety and understanding our strengths and how we utilise these in a team environment. Painting visual reminders of our strengths gives us something to remind us of when things get tough, or you have a bad day, of just how awesome you are. 3- Hacia delivered IWD key notes for Airmaster, Bass Coast Shire Council and Victorian Department of Families, Fairness & Housing. It was an honour this week to speak at these events, sharing the EWIT 30by30 mission. It’s a privilege to inspire action, break barriers, and drive real change for women in trades! We also joined the Alliance SI team for their celebrations. 4- The Master Builders Association of Victoria IWD breakfast was a highlight of the week with the key focus on #acceleratechange. Michaela Lihou reminded the audience through an insightful presentation, highlighting our collective duty to be agents of change. Thanks to BUSY At Work and Jayde Thomas for having us. 5- Coca-Cola Europacific Partners opened their doors this week for the CIMET (Careers in Manufacturing Engineering and Technology)team who are working to put an incredible work experience program. CIMET is driven in collaboration with Outer Eastern LLEN Watch this space!! Want to join the EWIT village? We kicked off our first school program of 2025 out at Yarra Ranges Tech School - Box Hill Institute with 45 year 8 & 9 students today thanks to Strategic Partnerships Program from the Department of Education Victoria. The students got to experience a tour of the Trades Centre at Box Hill Institute, explored plumbing with Reece Plumbing, sparked an interested in electrical with Prolink Trade Group & Voltex SA and got to work with timber and build a planter box thanks to DEWALT. As part of our program, we also address language and make sure the F word is nowhere to be heard. We learn, we discover, and we make mistakes and that's okay, its human. Most of the students weren't interested in trades to begin with, but that soon changed by the end of the program with a number of students now excited to explore pathways in trades. Big thank you to Jonno McCartney, John Doig, Luke Ashby, Natasha Tuma and Bridget O'Leary for your support today and to Outer Eastern LLEN for providing the pizzas for lunch! #30by30 #pipeline #ittakesavillage #ewitrades #SPPfunding #future
