At Financial Wellness Matters, we are no strangers to the effects stress and mental wellbeing can have on people, particularly from financial pressures. We have seen through our work, our experiences, and research that the link between financial and mental wellbeing is stronger and more established than you may think. According to research conducted by Beyond Blue last year, people experiencing financial challenges are at least twice as likely to encounter mental health issues than those that aren't. These financial challenges and hardships, especially in the current financial climate, can have a substantial effect not only on someone's work performance, but in their personal matters as well. The longer this goes unseen and unsupported, the worse it can progress. We work with organisations to help them greater support their employees to understand their financial positions, and provide them with the tools and skills they need to empower them to alleviate some of the financial pressures they may be facing. On this World Mental Health Day, we encourage any leaders and workplaces to make financial wellness a priority not just today, but every day, and work towards empowering and supporting their teams to make the most of their finances. Please reach out to our team if you're looking to make a start in greater supporting yours.
