What you think about you bring about. There is real power in your thoughts. Thoughts dictate your actions. And if you keep them high-vibe, this will trickle into every aspect of your life. Look at the way you begin your day. Be thankful. Anticipate that ‘today will be a great day’. Speak it into reality. Be aware of your thoughts. If we’re not mindful, it can be easy to drift into negativity. Stubbing your toe on the door as you leave the house can be the start. Getting angry and grumpy means you then forget your lunch and end up at work without it. Someone makes a comment and you snap at them. And it goes on. That downwards spiral. Be aware of this. If you notice anger and annoyance, stop and refocus. Reframe your thoughts. Make the decision to be positive. It might take some practice, but it is worth it. What if you believed that anything was possible? How would that change the way you live your life? So often we are our own worst enemy. Because we haven’t yet achieved something or because we have tried before and failed, it’s easy to lose faith in ourself and our possibilities. Visualising ourself reaching that goal is more of a challenge. We also sabotage our success by adding in a TIME factor. What do I mean by this? Well, you know how you set a goal like “ I will make $100,000 in the next 12 months” or “ I will lose 10 kilos in the next 12 weeks”… This is not the best way to structure your goal. Of course it is important to actually BELIEVE your goals are achievable. But by that simple addition of the TIME factor, you are stopping yourself from achieving your full potential. Instead, imagine setting a goal of making $100,000. Without specifying how long it might take you to do this. This leaves you free to do it faster! Imagine achieving that in 6 months, rather than 12. Or even 3! You must have BELIEF. See that something is possible NOW. Don’t add TIME to the plan. Over the last year I have started a new chapter. Reaching my mid-fifties shifted something inside me and had me looking outside of the optometry career I’ve had for the past 30+ years. I’ve been in the entrepreneurial space for the past 10 years, but never really found my place. That excitement, that sense of certainty that I had found my path. It never felt right. Coaching, online marketing, dabbling in social media… I did it all. And then I found…IT. Life can be amazing. And sometimes not quite so amazing 😉 We all have our ups and downs along the way. It is rare to see the path to success as a constant upwards trajectory. There are usually some unexpected twists and turns along the way. And everyone’s path can be different. So it is important that you don’t compare yourself with others. Remember this is your journey. Your life. There is no right or wrong. Have faith that you will reach your goals if you continue to take inspired action and DON’T GIVE UP! Too many people hit their first hurdle and look on it as a sign that they are failing. And instead of continuing to take action, they stop, overanalyse what they are doing, procrastinate a bit, and then often stop. And wait until they ‘feel better’, and then start up again. Or, more often than not, they stay stuck in a holding pattern, waiting for a sign. Don’t get caught up in this cycle. Make a decision that you will be successful. Take the necessary action and continue to take action until things change for you. Momentum builds with action. If you stop, it will take a huge effort to get started again.
