Gelion's GEN 3 Lithium-Sulfur delivers energy density above 400Wh/kg. As predicted in the announcement on 15 August 2024, Gelion has now successfully achieved the energy density milestone of 402 Wh/Kg in a 12 Ah cell comprised of its GEN 3 semi-solid-state Li-S technology. The achieved energy density is 60-70% higher than current #lithiumion batteries (approximately 200-250 Wh/kg), meaning a single Gelion GEN 3 Li-S cell is over 60% lighter than a typical lithium-ion battery of the same energy.  Head to the link below to read the full announcement on our website. #lithiumsulfur #geliontechnologies

Gelion (AIM: GELN) announces the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary, Battery Minerals Ltd (“Battery Minerals”), in the UK, to develop and then commercialise the Lithium-Ion (“Li-Ion”) recycling technology acquired from Johnson Matthey in 2023. Battery Minerals has also been awarded a grant of up to £170,000 by the UK government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and facilitated by the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) as part of the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP). The objective of Battery Minerals is to develop a novel recycling process designed to provide lower cost, lower waste, lower eCO2 and provide the ability to efficiently extract lithium from more battery scrap sources. The growing volume of battery waste presents an environmental challenge, an economic opportunity (projected to be worth $30-40 billion globally by 2030[1]) and a strategic opportunity (self-sufficient minerals supply). R U OK? Day is coming up this Thursday, 12th September, but let's not forget—any day is a great day to reach out and ask, "R U OK?" #ruokanyday   Additionally, today is Lifeline Australia World Suicide Prevention Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and understanding about suicide prevention. It's a crucial time to engage in conversations about mental health and support one another.   At Gelion, we’re fortunate to have a team of accredited Mental Health First Aid Officers. In the spirit of checking in on each other, we're sharing a powerful tool from Mental Health First Aid International called ALGEE.   Here’s how ALGEE helps you help others: A - Approach, assess, and assist with any crisis. L - Listen carefully and communicate without judgment. G - Give support and provide information. E - Encourage seeking professional support. E - Encourage the use of other helpful supports.   Think of ALGEE as your action plan for when someone might be struggling. But remember, the goal is to keep asking, "R U OK?" and creating genuine connections so we can support each other before a crisis happens.   For further resources on initiating these crucial conversations, we've linked some key resources in the comments below. Stay tuned for updates on how the Gelion team will be participating this Thursday.

In a game changing breakthrough for renewable energy battery technologies, our client Gelion recently announced its Next Generation (“GEN 3”) semi-solid-state Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) battery prototype. The GEN 3 sets new benchmarks in energy density (with a 60% weight reduction for the same energy capacity) while using economical and sustainable manufacturing techniques. This is an aspect of battery technology that innovators have long sought to resolve, and is a significantly higher density than standard lithium-ion batteries. “These are groundbreaking developments for energy storage, and we are thrilled to see Gelion reach these new technical benchmarks. We are proud to support the tireless efforts of John Wood, Prof. Thomas Maschmeyer, Louis Adriaenssens and the entire Gelion team as they continue to push the boundaries of Lithium-sulfur battery technology,” Special Counsel at Spruson & Ferguson, Dr. Matthew Stewart said. Originally a spin-out from the University of Sydney, Gelion is a rapidly growing Anglo-Australian company that is a global energy storage innovator, committed to designing and delivering innovative battery technologies that meet the growing needs of the renewable energy market. Several people across our teams have proudly been working with the Gelion team since their journey began, providing portfolio management, strategic advice and securing IP rights in important jurisdictions for key inventions which have contributed to this recent development. Along with Matthew Stewart, our Gelion team includes Principals Dr Michael Zammit, PhD, Nigel Pereira and Daniel J Wilson. If you require specialist IP advice for renewable technologies, please reach out to the team for assistance throughout the APAC region. Last month, I had the opportunity to attend the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) Future Ready HR Conference in Melbourne, which proved to be an incredible experience. The event highlighted the profound impact that collaboration and visionary thinking can have on shaping our workplaces. Two standout sessions were presented by Lisa Burquest, CPO at Virgin Australia, and Shane Hatton, Team Culture Expert & Author. Lisa's session was a powerful reminder that, despite the challenges ahead, collaboration is essential, and every voice should be heard. She emphasised the importance of maintaining an organisation's core culture throughout every step of the journey. Shane blended insight with humour to help us reflect on the type of leaders we aspire to be, how we are perceived, and how this allows us to build trust within our teams. The energy at the conference was contagious, as HR professionals from across Australia came together to explore the future of our field. It was inspiring to see our community not just embracing change but actively shaping the future of work. I’m returning with renewed focus, fresh insights, and practical strategies to implement. Thank you, Gelion, for this wonderful opportunity. #AHRI2024
