Today, the Global Adelaide network meets with the Treasurer of South Australia, the Hon Stephen Mulligan MP. We'll be sharing views and insights from the industry organisations around the table, that range from produce, building and construction, to defence and health, who are all challenged to meet their current and future workforce needs. Anders Magnusson, from independent research firm BDO in Australia Econsearch, will be sharing Global Adelaide's next research project. The project will analyse the demographic composition of the South Australian population, considering factors such as our aging workforce, the competitive nature of existing and emerging industries, care requirements for seniors, influx of new talent, training, completion and retention rates, and the impact of net overseas and interstate migration. The outcomes of the research will not only shed light on industry-specific and regional-specific needs, but also enable us to forecast future workforce requirements across industry sectors and regions, so that we can plan for infrastructure, housing, health and transport requirements in our state. Thank you to Thomson Geer for hosting this event. #migration #migrationreform #skills #futureworkforce

Regions Rising SA, hosted by the Regional Australia Institute (RAI), is happening today at Golding Wines in the Adelaide Hills. RAI has undertaken over a decade of research to develop a framework to build and support regional Australia to thrive. The framework charts 20 goals across five pillars: population, jobs & skills, liveability, productivity & innovation, and sustainability & resilience. Regions Rising is an opportunity to share this research and framework, discussing it with people within the regions and learning from one another. At today's event, Mark Glazbrook will be on a panel discussing 'The workforce challenge - filling the jobs of the future', representing the needs and views of the Global Adelaide network. https://lnkd.in/gKSnCEze #globaladelaide #migration #skills

The Queensland State Government offers significant cash incentives to interstate and overseas health workers to move to Queensland. "Health workers from interstate or overseas who move to Queensland may be eligible for payments of up to $20,000. Health workers from intrastate, interstate or overseas who take a job in regional or remote Queensland will be eligible for up to $70,000," says the Queensland Government. This includes medical doctors and specialists, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce, dentists, oral health practitioners and scientific officers. 'All gloves are off' as states and regions compete for health workers and people to fill labour shortages. What is South Australia's plan? Global Adelaide advocates for migration reform to support South Australia and our regions attract the workforce we need. Talk to us to support your advocacy. Last week, Global Adelaide Founder (Mark Glazbrook) spoke at the Cross-Border Future Industry Workforce Forum as part of a panel discussion on regional workforce needs and population growth. The Euston, Mildura and Renmark region comprises a population of around 100,000 and they share job shortages of some 40,000 people. Including everything from medical doctors and nurses to pickers and packers, it's a region that needs to attract and retain a significant workforce. Regional migration reform would go a long way towards solving this issue for them and many other regions around Australia. #regionaldevelopment #regionalbusiness #populationgrowth #migrationreform #migration #regionalworkforce

Reflecting on a remarkable day at the Cross-border Future Industry Workforce Forum in Euston. Earlier this week, we hosted an event that was a testament to the power of collaboration! 🤝 A joint initiative incorporating 14 LGAs across the Murray-Mallee cross-border region, the Forum addressed the workforce needs arising from significant investments in critical mineral, renewable energy, and horticulture. 💡🌿 By the end of the day, delegates had devised a draft Roadmap and committed to form a Taskforce to take the solutions identified at the Forum forward. NSW Government | Victoria State Government (Victorian Government) | Regional Development Australia Murray | Regional Mallee Partnerships | Balranald Shire Council | Mildura Rural City Council | Robinvale Euston Workforce Network | Regional Australia Institute. We were proud to facilitate a shared approach to growing a skilled local workforce – a key ingredient for maximising economic benefits and ensuring the strength and sustainability of cross-border communities. 🌱💪 A huge thank you to CEOs, senior HR and operational professionals, and community delegates who participated in this solutions-focused, consultative event. Your commitment to change is the driving force behind our shared vision for a thriving future. 🌟 Find out more 👇 https://lnkd.in/ewXAEfx7 #CrossBorderWorkforceForum #RegionalAustralia #Collaboration #FutureSuccess #RegionalAustralia #RebalanceTheNation
