Just putting the finishing touches on my latest short film. "Story Time" follows Dr Janet Thomas' courageous mission to break the stigma around dementia through the power of storytelling. We are working with Ian Hale and HALO Films Perth to figure out the best way to share this important story with you. Follow me (if you don't currently) to stay in the loop. Big thanks to Janet, her partner Patrick Frost, Althea Gordon from Mind the Change and Gail Humphries for getting me in on this project. And of course Jeremy Hammer who shoots so beautifully. #dementia #alzheimers #shortfilm #documentary

Town of Victoria Park invited mum and I to come and share The Grey Line last Saturday night amongst local community members. With around 50 people in attendance, we were met with such warmth and compassion to share in their Kaartdijin (meaning knowledge in Noongar) series. Bringing First Nation stories and experiences to light. Welcome to Country was offered in such an interactive way to start conversations in a two way learning approach that you left feeling more educated and aware. There was a video corner set up for guests to give their insight after seeing the film and participating in our Q&A and we can’t wait to hear what everyone had to say! The night offered so many questions and emotions. Mum and I continued to talk for as long as anyone had a question, we do not shut anyone down or have anyone leave feeling like they don’t get to ask their questions. The purpose is to provide knowledge and education in an open forum, where some laughs and tears are ok and welcomed. Feedback received today letting me know, that it has been talked about all week and even those who did not attend have heard about the impact of mums story and how much it has reached others, more than we may know. This is why I wanted to share my mums story and start this journey and sit as producer of The Grey Line. It is so important to continue to listen and heal together. I have met so many amazing, kind hearted people and we have created such a welcome environment that every interaction I have been lucky enough to have has been meaningful and important on many levels.
