This weekend Harvey Norman celebrates its 18th Harvey Norman Women In League Round, the longest standing initiative in the NRL. It will be celebrated across Round 2 of the Telstra Women’s Premiership and Round 22 of the Telstra Premiership. The round will highlight Women who have paved the way, celebrate the Women who play crucial roles across our game and support our next generation by enhancing opportunities for young women throughout NRL. In partnership with the NRL, Harvey Norman will launch two new initiatives, the first of their kind - NRL & Harvey Norman Women in League Internships and an NRL Women in League Executive Mentoring Program. Our CEO, Katie Page says, “We talk about leadership in our company. The NRL talks about female leadership and how they can get more executives coming through not just in the main office, but in the clubs as well. To be able to offer the internships for two amazing women, whoever they are – they are going to get access to the best the NRL’s got to offer in leadership and also the best at Harvey Norman. I can’t think of a more in-depth internship. You are getting two views of the world.” Harvey Norman Women in League Round will be celebrated with Clubs paying tribute to key women in their communities. Local Junior Rugby League girls teams will have the opportunity to lead their NRL and NRLW heroes on to the field at each match. At the community level, the NRL Education Team will host a Supporting Female Athletes Workshop for coaches, volunteers, sports trainers and parents, plus a special Girls Only Clinic for schoolgirls transitioning from non-contact to contact formats of the game. Harvey Norman is proud to announce that we are joining forces with Minerva Network as an official partner.   At Harvey Norman, we take pride in our focus to support sport and athletes at every level in Australia, with an ethos that every Australian girl should be able to compete in her choice of sport at whatever level her ambition and talent will facilitate. “The Minerva Network and Harvey Norman in partnership makes complete sense. Fulsome sporting careers for Australian women are now possible and thanks to the Minerva Network, our fabulous athletes are mentored where their talents and interests will be best served once their competitive career has concluded,” Harvey Norman CEO Katie Page states.   Ms Page, CEO, said further “Australia is vast, and our talent comes from every corner, so I am particularly passionate about the work the Minerva Network is doing in rural and regional areas. As our athletes change career paths, we want their unique skills to benefit those within their community. Athletic careers often take individuals far from home for long periods from a young age. Harvey Norman operates in over 110 rural and regional Australian towns and centres. We want all our athletes to have the choice of both what they pursue as their next career and where they want to live. Every town in Australia deserves to benefit from the ongoing contribution these brilliant women will make across their lifetime.”   Minerva Network Chairman and Co-Founder Christine McLoughlin AM said, “We are thrilled to welcome Harvey Norman as our newest partner in our journey to empower professional women in sport.   “Our two organisations each have an unwavering commitment to diversity and believe that together we can drive more meaningful change and create a more inclusive sporting landscape for generations to come.”   Through this partnership, Harvey Norman and Minerva Network look forward to fostering an environment of equality, respect, and opportunity for all.   Read more about the partnership here: https://lnkd.in/gsE8aZpT   L to R: Kezie Apps - NRLW; Gabi Simpson - Netball; Christine McLoughlin AM; Katie Page; Saskia Broudelet - Rhythmic Gymnastics; Ali Brigginshaw - NRLW.
