Horiso is excited to share our involvement in the prestigious One Sydney Harbour project in Barangaroo, Sydney. Designed by the acclaimed architect Renzo Piano, this development features 808 luxury apartments across three magnificent towers. In conjunction with Guthrie Douglas Group Limited, our UK partners, and Climate Ready Engineering, we developed and delivered this complex shading solution, manufacturing over 7,500 bespoke tensioned shading systems for this project. These systems were rigorously tested to ensure top-notch durability and performance. Our team is incredibly proud to have been involved in the delivery of such an amazing project!
Building: Crown Sydney / One Barangaroo Location: Barangaroo, Sydney, NSW 🇦🇺 Completed: 2020 Height: 271.3 metres (890 ft) Floor Area: 146,500m sq. (1,577,000 sq ft) Floors: 75 Architect: WilkinsonEyre Crown Sydney (also referred to by its street address of One Barangaroo) is a skyscraper in Barangaroo, New South Wales, Australia. Designed by WilkinsonEyre, it stands at a height of 271.3m (890 ft) with 75 floors, making it the tallest building in Sydney and 4th tallest in Australia. The design and form of the tower takes inspiration from natural forms and curved geometry, emanating from three "petals" that twist and rise together, The geometry of the tower was derived using parametric 3D modelling, to accommodate a 60-degree twist in the outer skin with helical columns on the perimeter while maintaining a vertical core structure. It was developed by Crown Resorts, primarily comprising a hotel and residential apartments, while a casino and other hospitality venues make up the rest of its floorspace. Construction began in October 2016, and the building was topped out in March 2020. It was inaugurated to the public in December 2020. Lendlease was contracted for the main construction of the structure, while the Robert Bird Group oversaw structural engineering and LCI as head of MEP servicing. We are thrilled to have collaborated on the Thornton Residences project, a stunning development of 13 thermally efficient homes located directly on the Brisbane River. The 78x Horiso 100mm motorised External Venetian Blinds which are automated and used on the North and West facades integrate seamlessly into the facade of the building. A big thank you to TurnerArc Shading Systems for trusting us with this project! #ThorntonResidences #BrisbaneRiver #HorisoBlinds #CbusAutomation #Somfy #ModernLiving #SustainableDesign
Thornton is made up of 13 highly efficient residences, positioned directly on the Brisbane River with panoramic views across to Eagle Street skyline & the Botanic Gardens, the building is designed to maximise liveability and natural light. Our scope involved supplying and installing 78 Horiso 100mm AKN motorised External Venetian Blinds on the North & West facades to 13 full floor apartments. All the blinds retract into surface mount pelmets and fall in front of the glass balustrades via stainless guide wires. Built with the future in mind, all the Horiso External Venetians Blinds are seamlessly integrated into the Cbus automation with touch screens that are connected through Somfy KNX 4AC Moco blind controllers using RTS cards allowing for master override switching through Somfy RTS Variation remote controllers. All the systems have a programmed and commissioned package for wind override through the Somfy control network throughout the building. In 2007, we supplied tensioned blind systems to the Fullerton Hotel, and after 17 years, they wanted to swap the fabric to match their refreshed aesthetic. With sustainability at the forefront of our process, we assessed each component and retained everything that was still in perfect working condition, replacing only what showed signs of wear. This thoughtful approach helped us reduce waste, minimise environmental impact, and reinforce our commitment to sustainable solutions. How good do the new blinds look! #sustainability #tensionedshadingsystems #blinds
