International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC)

The International Accreditation Forum Inc and the International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC) have begun the process of incorporating the Global Accreditation Cooperation (GLOBAC), a single international organization for accreditation. The target date for GLOBAC to become operational, taking over the roles of IAF and ILAC, is provisionally January 2026.   To provide regulators, specifiers and other stakeholders with information on the transition to GLOBAC, IAF and ILAC have released a communication on specifying the use of GLOBAC accreditation. The communication addresses the transition from the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA) and ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) to the GLOBAC MRA, the use of the IAF MLA and ILAC MRA marks, and other related issues. Until the target date and establishment of the internal processes and procedures of GLOBAC, IAF and ILAC will maintain normal operations.   IAF and ILAC are encouraging our members, regulatory bodies, scheme owners and other stakeholders to collaborate on making any necessary changes to regulations and specifications as soon as possible after the target date. This will aid in a smooth transition to GLOBAC, which is positioned to improve the acceptance and recognition of accredited conformity assessment results across borders. The 22nd IAF/ILAC Joint General Assembly convened today. Members heard reports on this year’s joint activities, and received updates from ISO/CASCO, OIML, UNIDO and IEC. Key presentations and member discussions took place on the One Organisation Project. 🤝 We also highlighted the new MLA/MRA signatories and warmly welcomed new members. The ILAC and International Accreditation Forum Inc Chairs and Vice-Chairs officially started the registration process of the Global Accreditation Cooperation (GLOBAC) with IAF and ILAC members in attendance. This step comes after ILAC and IAF members approved the GLOBAC Constitution and General Rules.

The signatory status of Organismo Salvadoreno de Acreditacion (OSA), El Salvador, to the ILAC MRA has been extended to include the accreditation of Medical Testing (ISO 15189).

The signatory status of Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation Global Accreditation (JANAAC), Jamaica, to the ILAC MRA has been extended to include the accreditation of Calibration (ISO/IEC 17025).

On 8 October took place the first session of the individual IAF and ILAC General Assemblies. Issues discussed included reports from the stand-alone committees and working groups, and the 2025 draft budgets for each organization. #Accreditation #Berlin #IAFILACmeetings

The Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (SLAB), Sri Lanka, has had its signatory status to the ILAC MRA extended to include accreditation of PT Providers (ISO/IEC 17043). The full list of signatories to the ILAC MRA is available at ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gwRfqmmy

07 October, marked the 32nd meeting of the Joint Executive Committee (JEC). The meeting addressed key topics associated with the One Organisation project, including document preparation, and rebranding to GLOBAC. Final preparations for the Joint General Assembly (JGA), to be held on 09 October, were also discussed.
