The 🌍 needs International Standards. At #Davos, this has become a significant theme resonating throughout many sessions and conversations. Our team today at #WEF25 continued many relevant conversations on the role of standards to support the #sustainability agenda and address #AI challenges and opportunities. 🔋 The future of AI and energy efficiency: As AI and data centers expand, there is a crucial need to increase the use of renewable energy sources to prevent environmental damage. At today’s #AIHouseDavos session, our Head of Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships Noelia Garcia Nebra discussed how standards can help bridge the gap between governments and industry. By offering clear and reliable guidelines for sustainability, #ISOstandards provide the framework for energy efficient AI systems. They support the making of informed decisions and ensure that AI becomes a tool for global good . 💡Standards development is #collaborative and #inclusive. ISO's approach ensures that diverse voices from various fields and regions are heard, fostering global #cooperation and providing tools for measurable progress. In #Davos, our #WEF25 team have had a whirlwind day participating on dynamic panels to discuss the vital role of International Standards in AI governance, climate adaptation, and the future of digital wallets. 🌟A few session highlights: 💻 The OpenWallet Forum, hosted by the International Telecommunication Union and The Linux Foundation Foundation, featured our Secretary-General Sergio Mujica who spoke on the importance of standards for the interoperability of digital wallets and multi-stakeholder cooperation. This was reinforced by Alain Labrique, Director, Department of Digital Health and Innovation Science Division, World Health Organization who stated that, “Interoperability saves lives...verifiable and accurate health data is crucial and International Standards are a game changer in facilitating digital transformation and interoperability. We have to work to build public trust but there is no turning back.” 🌱Trusted, globally agreed standards help turn #climate commitments into effective, measurable action through a consistent approach that can be adopted across borders. Our Deputy Secretary-General Silvio Dulinsky underscored this point during Swiss Re’s #ClimateAdaptation session discussing how ISO’s large portfolio of widely adopted climate standards assists organizations and governments worldwide in developing tailored, efficient adaptation measures. 🔖 Emerging technologies like #blockchain, AI, and #QuantumComputing are revolutionizing #DigitalWallets by enhancing security and decentralization and giving users more control over their credentials. In this cohosted OWF and Google session on building the future of digital identities, we emphasized that by co-creating standards, we can ensure these digital technologies are interoperable and scalable worldwide.     👏 Thanks to the multitude of engaging conversations today and opportunities to highlight the role of international standards in #sustainability and ensuring industry growth and collaboration in the intelligent age. Key takeaway: International Standards are popping up everywhere… 🗣️ Standards development brings together diverse voices from across the AI ecosystem and provides a framework supporting AI #governance, ethical management, and the mitigation of the digital divide as highlighted by our Head of Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships, Noelia Garcia Nebra during a session on AI and public impact.  🗺️Mapping the roles and connections between standards and frameworks helps deliver a clear pathway for businesses to navigate nature strategy and disclosures effectively. 📴 And food for AI thought: A debate on AI #governance examined the necessity of a "kill switch" and the balance between innovation and safety, exploring the roles of industry, government, and civil society.
