Meet Liam 👋 Liam graduated as an Occupational Therapist from ACU in 2020 and has since worked in the public health sector across both acute and subacute hospital settings. Liam is passionate about developing strong therapeutic relationships with clients and families and is highly motivated to empower clients in the community setting to achieve the goals that are most meaningful to them. _____________________________ Let's get to know Liam a little better through a quick Q&A: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗢𝗧 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿? I chose OT as a career because I love getting to work with clients and families to problem solve challenging situations and provide the required support to enable people to live meaningful lives and achieve their goals. I love that therapy can be so dynamic, flexible and practical. I find it exciting to be able to think and work outside the box which may involve completing therapy at a local café or gym which can be fun and facilitate practical and very transferrable everyday skills. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟯 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗢𝗧? 1. Everyday is so different and exciting 2. The amazing staff and clients that I get to work with everyday 3. Getting the opportunity to problem solve challenging situations with clients and families 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟯 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? 1. Spending time with friends and family 2. Trying new restaurants and cafés. 3. Playing and going to watch sports. Essendon supporter (unfortunately)! 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝗧 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿? My fondest memory of being an OT to date is having the opportunity to organise specialised equipment, retraining and supports to enable a client to get out of hospital and back to their young family and dogs as soon as possible after experiencing a life changing amputation. _____________________________ Be part of something bigger at IRS.
