This term, Indro hosted a Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Workshop with over 100 students from Indro State High, Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) and St Peters Lutheran College gathering in our School Hall, to collaborate and develop ideas for their TOK essay responses. This wonderful experience enabled our Indro students to create connections with the wider IB community in Brisbane. Many thanks to our student workshop facilitators: Arianna, Abbie, Elise, and Anya, and to Indro's IB Head of Department, Peter Day for organising the event. Thanks also to our TOK teaching team: Hayley Campbell, Pippa Grocott, Karly Hindmarsh and Ned Jenkinson.

Congratulations to Indro’s 2024 International Baccalaureate (IB) Class, many of whom recently returned to school for a special ceremony to acknowledge their outstanding achievements last year. Executive Principal, Michael West and Head of the IB Department, Peter Day, presented our graduates with their official IB Diplomas, and were able to see first-hand the reflective, caring and open-minded individuals who graduate from our Diploma course here at Indro. Several students were already flexing their global-mindedness and could not join us on the night as they have taken up study at universities overseas! The remarkable achievements of our 2024 IB class is a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to achieving their personal best, supported by the unwavering encouragement of our passionate teachers and their devoted families. We thank the parents and carers who joined us to celebrate at the ceremony. The IB provides a world-class preparation for university and life beyond. IB students consistently demonstrate the critical thinking and research skills needed to excel in their university studies and they tend to be accepted into the world's best universities. The IB enables students to direct their own learning pathway and develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive and make a lasting difference. It empowers teachers as the architects of learning excellence, working alongside engaged colleagues in a rewarding career supported by a strong global network. We wish our IB graduates every success as they move onto the next exciting chapter of their lives. Forever Indro alumni. 🎓💙🦘

Thank you to Councillor Penny Wolff for sharing some exciting news about Indro student, Senith, who has attended the first meeting of the Lord Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (LMYAC). Each year, Brisbane high schools nominate a Year 10 student to represent their school on the LMYAC, and these students are the voice of young people in Brisbane. They have the opportunity to raise issues, share ideas, and provide feedback on the things that matter most to them - from policies to local services, programs, and initiatives. “LMYAC helps develop young leaders by encouraging them to collaborate, generate ideas, and take action on topics like the environment, social issues, creativity, economic opportunities, and diversity. I'm looking forward to seeing how these young voices shape our community for the better!” Councillor Penny Wolff Well done, Senith! Indro is proud of your leadership. What an exciting opportunity for a group of Indro Year 7 and 8 students who recently attended the Future Aviators Schools Program, in celebration of International Women's Day 2025, hosted by Virgin Australia. More than 60 young girls and their teachers from Queensland schools participated in the program that aims to encourage the next generation of women to pursue careers in the sector. It's a thrilling behind the scenes look at the world of aviation. Our very own Year 7 student, Sanjana, features in a Channel 7 News story below and was interviewed about what she enjoyed about the Future Aviators program. "It helped me get a deeper understanding of the Aviation industry and how there are many job opportunities in the field. I also enjoyed exploring a plane and the engine close up. Overall, I believe this excursion was very useful." Thank you, Virgin Australia for inviting Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Program students and teachers for the full day immersive experience to learn about various roles in the workplace from the industry experts. The program focused on career options across the business, including flight crew, safety, training, aircraft maintenance & stores, the operations centre, workforce planning and IT (just to name a few!). Our Indro future aviators left feeling inspired and ready to reach for the sky. "What I liked about the Future Aviators program was having an opportunity to see what pilots do and how they fly the plane." Kristy, Indro Student. https://lnkd.in/gyEx_Umi

“What a great cup of Coffee!” We heard this frequently this morning at Indro Café run by our talented Hospitality students. Serving teachers and students from 8:00am - 8:30am every Tuesday, Indro Café provides an opportunity for our Year 10, 11 and 12 Hospitality students to complete the required practical hours for the Certificate II in Hospitality. Students learn how to prepare café style food, hone their barista skills on our commercial coffee machine and how to provide efficient and friendly front of house service. Today, Executive Principal, Michael West, enjoyed a hot coffee and a chat with students and staff. Thank you to teachers Sarah Coughlan, Kayla Sanderson and Sarah Lynch for all the hard work they put in behind the scenes to help the students.
