Innowell is excited to announce the appointment of the company’s Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), Dr. Melanie "Mel" Turner! Assoc Prof Melanie Turner is a Clinical Associate Professor and child-adolescent psychiatrist. Her work in private practice includes a multidisciplinary approach to children, adolescents, and young adults with complex developmental impairments and psychiatric disorders. Dr. Turner will also chair Innowell’s Clinical Advisory Council, in addition to her appointment as Innowell’s CCO. Dr. Turner brings a diverse range of experience to her appointment having served in positions including: • Deputy Chief Psychiatrist - Office of the Chief Psychiatrist of South Australia • Board Member - Medical Board of South Australia • Elected Board Director - Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists • Board Director - Mental Health Australia • Presiding Member - Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board in South Australia Possessing university degrees in Applied Science and Medicine, a PhD in Perinatal Psychiatry from the University of Adelaide, and postgraduate qualifications in Health Management and Medical Administration, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Dr Turner also brings her extensive expertise and knowledge to the Innowell team and mission. Dr. Turner is involved in a range of Australian state and federal projects related to pathways for people with autism to enter healthcare, as well as roles reviewing medical education accreditation. She is published in peer-reviewed journals and teaches medical students and trainee psychiatrists at the University of Adelaide. She has previously won RANZCP awards for her research projects and recently won a Churchill Fellowship for her Churchill report reviewing non-emergency department interventions for those in mental health crises, which is due for release in late 2024.
