In the final of a three-part series aimed at answering investors’ questions about private credit, Livewire Markets' Chris Conway posed some rapid fire questions to Keyview’s Alexander Hone and Kevin Hua, both of whom have decades of investing experience. They provided candid answers to questions like: . Investors worry that an asset class growing quickly can mean it’s risky. Is that true?  . What about regulation and lending standards... does more need to be done?  . Are there too many players? Does private credit need consolidation?  . Who will be the winners and losers – is it simply a matter of scale?  . What happens to growth from here? You can read Alex and Kevin’s answers which are now live at: https://lnkd.in/gg9JuU8K #privatecredit #investment #faqs

Investors want to better understand the liquidity, transparency, risks and fees that underly the attractive returns offered by private credit. In this quarter’s webinar, Chris Cuffe joined Keyview’s Managing Partner Alexander Hone to unpack private credit from two different perspectives: top-down industry dynamics and bottom-up loan portfolio management. Chris brought his broad, industry level viewpoint based on years of advising institutions, family offices and endowment funds on investment strategy and asset allocation. During the webinar they discussed:  - A broad look at what's happening in the private credit space  - Insights on key issues for investors of private credit including transparency, reporting and fees  - The competitive landscape and what Chris looks for when assessing different private credit managers  - How Keyview’s funds have performed over the quarter. “Private credit isn’t new” was one of the key points Keyview’s Kevin Hua discussed as part of the “Alternative credit outlook for Australia and New Zealand” panel at the Alternative Credit Council Investor Forum in Sydney. Kevin has been involved in private credit for more than 20 years, before it was even called private credit he’s found, having worked on private credit strategies as part of multi-strategy hedge funds in Asia in the early 2000s. While he sees Australia’s private credit industry as still evolving, he remains bullish on the local asset class. He noted how borrower demand for private credit can be inelastic through the credit cycle with companies requiring capital during growth periods and refinancing / restructuring during downturns. On the investor side, Kevin highlighted how investors are increasingly allocating to alternative assets including private credit as they look to diversify their portfolios and take advantage of access to attractive opportunities. #privatecredit #privatemarkets #investments

A common investor question about private credit is "Can you achieve high returns without high risk?" To answer this, we wrote a 2-part series on the interplay between risk, return and the less discussed third parameter - complexity. In the private credit market, complexity can simply mean opportunities that don’t fit institutions’ standardised deal types or terms and are therefore not easily scalable. To understand how these opportunities can result in equity-like returns and be structured to preserve capital, take a deep-dive with our series. Just as there are different styles of public equity managers (which most investors understand well), there are differences amongst private credit managers too. In the first of a series with Livewire, Keyview’s Kevin Hua and Justin Lal outline key features of private credit that many investors may not know including a breakdown of private credit investment styles so that investors can better assess their options.
