    Experienced people leader and executive.

News from me. It has been a privilege to lead this lovely organisation for the last few years. Dear Staff/Stakeholders/Parents I am writing to you today to inform you that our CEO, Mat Rowell, has given the Board notice of his resignation. Mat has recently completed his first contract with Lady Gowrie Tasmania and has decided that he is not going to pursue a new contract. Mat has been a CEO in the for-purpose sector for 22 years and has decided that he is going to pursue other opportunities and greater work life balance. He is very grateful for the opportunity to hold the stewardship of Lady Gowrie Tasmania (LGT) and looks forward to seeing us continue to grow from strength to strength. I would like to acknowledge that Mat has been an exceptional leader. His steady and calm leadership is commended, particularly with the change and challenges that we have faced over the last three years. This includes taking the reins following the long tenure of the previous CEO, and the many varying challenges that we faced during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mat has been a strong and effective leader to the team and organisation.  The staff and sector have also greatly benefited from Mat’s advocacy and personal commitment to seeing improvements for children, educators and the sector. The Board are also grateful for Mat’s advice and support to us as a Board, and to me as Chair, and the strong relationship we have had with him. Mat leaves the organisation in a strong position and will finish his tenure at LGT in early October. The Board has started the process for selecting a recruitment agency to assist us with finding the next high-quality CEO for LGT and we will keep you informed about our progress on that as it unfolds. We are confident that the reputation of the LGT will attract high quality candidates and that with the talent at the leadership level and Board, the organisation will continue to flourish and provide high quality education and care across Tasmania. The Board thanks Mat for his significant contribution and wish him all the best with the next stage of his career.   Chelsea Trubody- Jager Chair of the Board
