We're so proud of our team member Iresha Lehane for shining a light on such an important issue! In an interview with Manly Observer, Iresha shared insights on economic abuse and how Lifeline Northern Beaches is here to help those affected. Economic abuse often goes unseen, but by raising awareness, we're working to break down barriers and provide vital support to our community - from Kirribilli to Mosman, Seaforth to Palm Beach. Help us to help others escape economic and financial abuse. In the past 12months we have seen a 64% growth in number of new clients accessing our services. To meet the increasing demand we need to raise $200,000 p.a. to fund this critical service. Please give generously: https://lnkd.in/gRddjm9v Read the full article to learn more about our work and how we're making a difference in our local community. https://lnkd.in/g95DhGxX #LifelineNorthernBeaches #EconomicAbuseAwareness #CommunitySupport #MentalHealthMatters Sarah Grattan Carol Lydford Lucinda Brogden AM Nicky Adamo Sandra Wiles Barbara Stenhouse Katie Biggs Elizabeth Harrison Sarah Watts

Are you a business leader or a community champion? Domestic and family violence (DFV) affects around 1 in 5 relationships. It’s a prevalent issue. With Coercive Control laws beginning in NSW from July 2024 and changes to Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave – business and workplaces will need to respond. Are you ready? - How do you recognise DFV, including coercive control? - How do you listen and respond to a DFV story? - How do you offer the best support without overstepping boundaries? - What referral options and support services are available? Awareness and action has never been more important. Come to our evening event and be a part of the network of business leaders and community champions that are striving ahead. We want to help people prepare for DFV conversations and to become ready to respond effectively to this challenging and confronting topic. Your words and actions could make all the difference. Make this a win-win for your business and the community. Tickets are limited! Wednesday 27 November 6:00pm to 9:00pm St Matts @ 1 Darley Street, Manly A light supper is provided. We are incredibly grateful to the Australian Lifesaving Academy NSW (a subsidiary of Surf Life Saving NSW) and Daniel Gay, Commercial Training Manager at ALA/SLSNSW, for choosing Lifeline Northern Beaches to conduct an Accidental Counsellor training workshop recently, as part of their ongoing professional learning program. Your commitment to equipping your team with essential skills to support mental health and wellbeing is truly commendable. Together, we are making a significant impact in our communities. Thank you for partnering with us! 64% of Australians say their stress is adversely impacting their mental health. It is not surprising then, that many of us find ourselves in the accidental counsellor role at work and in our communities. If you feel you, or your organisation, would benefit from upskilling in this area we are here to help. Accidental Counsellor: In Practice gives your people leadership a boost with a focus on empathy and communication. Learn through a practical, evidence-based framework as you apply the accidental counsellor skillset and the 3-step approach for how to respond to a person experiencing stress, personal crisis and suicide. If you are interested in more information about how we can help you and your team please contact us 👉: https://lnkd.in/gxwPAUs4 #MentalHealth #ProfessionalDevelopment #CommunitySupport #LifelineNorthernBeaches #LearnwithLifeline
