Digitising a Million Dreams by 2027

About us

Our Story The LiteHaus journey began with one act of generosity in September 2017 in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Our young Founder & Chairman, Jack Growden, aged 20, was inspired by the generosity of the local people and donated his personal laptop to the local primary school. He promised to return with 11 more – a pledge which found its way into the national media. In March 2018, he fulfilled this promise in front of 400 locals, establishing the first computer lab in a Papua New Guinean primary school. Similar success followed, and by the end of the year, LiteHaus International had grown to removing barriers to education in Uganda and Pakistan. Our Mission LiteHaus International aims to globally contribute to the removal of obstacles encountered in the pursuit of quality education, ultimately enabling individuals to reach their full potential. We want to give children across the world the tools to learn, the tools to dream and place opportunities at their fingertips. In the digital age, children in developing countries such as Papua New Guinea, Uganda and Pakistan face being left behind without the technological skills required to do justice to their talents. LiteHaus International aims to remove the obstacles of digital illiteracy and make quality and relevant education accessible to all young people. Make a donation today to our not-for-profit charity, registered with the ACNC. Our Work We provide 12 laptops and a projector to remote primary schools in Papua New Guinea to promote digital learning. Our own bilingual Basic Computer Skills Guide is also provided to assist teachers with hosting their ICT classes. We prioritise remote communities where access to technology is minimal. Many students walk three rainy hours barefoot to get to school each day. In Uganda and Pakistan, we enhance the learning journeys of 143 impoverished children by providing them the critical resources for education – i.e. stationery, books, and whiteboards.

Meet Jessica, who arrived in Australia from Congo just a month ago on a humanitarian visa. As a client of Centacare with a keen interest in coding, Jessica is already using her LiteHaus laptop to start learning.  In collaboration with organisations like Centacare FNQ, we support the smooth settlement of families and ensure every student is 'back-to-school ready.' As we begin our campaign for the upcoming school year, we need your support to make it happen.  Watch Jessica’s story and see how your contribution can make a difference.

Recently, we ticked over seven years of action, inspiration and impact at LiteHaus International. From one laptop given to a school in 2017, we have provided digital learning opportunities to almost 300,000 young people in over 500 schools who otherwise would be going without. The scale has changed, but our mission remains the same. With each passing day and every new innovation, the human experience shifts further into digital dimensions, meaning those without access drift further behind. Globally, three billion people remain digitally excluded. Most of the world’s schools do not even have computers in 2024 despite educating young people who will see the 22nd century. Meanwhile, the world throws away tens of millions of digital tools annually, most of which are perfectly useful to somebody else. For seven years, alongside our wonderful partners, we have worked to change this, and our ask remains the same: It’s free. It’s easy. It’s data-secure. Can your company follow Deloitte, ExxonMobil, AECOM, TotalEnergies, Brisbane Airport Corporation, James Cook University, Queensland Country Bank and >250 others and donate its retired computers to help us close the digital divide?

Last month, I was in Cambodia setting up LiteHaus International's first ten school computer labs there. Teaming up with Cufa, and deploying some of the 2,500 laptops donated to us by Deloitte Australia, we have embedded quality digital access into considerably underresourced rural schools. Six weeks later, we are pleased to see immediate uptake and use of the laptops and accompanying Khmer e-library. Remarkably, one of our labs is housed in a building once used as a prison cell in the tragic Khmer Rouge era. Cambodia's future leaders are talented, energetic and ambitious - they just need the tools for success in the digital age they are living in and this begins in the classroom.

Across the Philippines, 21,000 students in 56 schools have access to the digital world through the computer labs we completed in partnership with Energy Development Corporation. In some regions, the devices are used 4-6 hours daily for research, design, coursework, and administration. At Sto. Niño Integrated School, students design and publish their school newspaper on laptops donated by AECOM. Digital access underpins quality education in the digital age we live in.

Last week, we delivered a five-day, in-person digital skills training program for teachers in Chimbu Province, Papua New Guinea. Forty teachers from across our 31 beneficiary schools in the province have been equipped with essential digital skills to enhance their classroom teaching. Through hands-on sessions, they learned key competencies in typing, word processing, data entry and analysis, presentation, and basic coding. “Before, calculations for student assessments took a long time. With the skills we gained in Excel and data entry, we now have the right tools to get the work done quickly. This will be a significant boost when we return to our local schools,” said Mr. Garren, teacher from Kunabau Primary School, after receiving his certificate. This initiative was made possible through our partnership with the Chimbu PDoE.
