We are so excited to be the chosen charity of this year’s Basket-Ball! Thank you to Perth Spectres Basketball Club for selecting to support us again this year. A portion of funds raised from this event go towards Living Proud to support peer based community services like Qlife. 2024 is a special year for Living Proud as it is our 50th anniversary, so we are thrilled to be involved. About us
Living Proud supports the health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ communities across WA partnering with the QLIFE phone support service, as well as life changing projects like the Queer and Accessible that connects LGBTIQ+ people with disability to the queer community and the Proud and Connected Community Grants program It is WA’s foremost diversity team trainer for inclusive organisations • Attracting and retaining LGBTIQ+ customers and team members • Being an inclusive organisation • Building capacity and understanding sexuality and gender diverse employees and customers (LGBTIQ+ people) • Help organisations interested in visibly and strategically demonstrating their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. Living Proud has delivered more than 500 training sessions over more than 20 years of changing the world for hundreds of organisations. Its story starts with the ‘Campaign Against Moral Persecution (CAMP)’ and ‘Phone a Friend’. CAMP is the foundational group for many Perth LGBTIQ+ organisations. One of these was formalised as the Homosexual Counselling Service of WA in 1974. This changed to the Gay Counselling Service of WA (Inc) in 1984 and was incorporated that year. In 1990 the name was changed again to the Gay and Lesbian Community Services of WA (Inc) to reflect the wider range of services that were offered.
