  • Will anyone investigate the cause of the bull’s death? Was it a lethal dose of the neurotoxin that paralysis ticks inject, or was it a pathogen tramitted by the tick? We need to know so we can ensure that people who succumb to symptoms of Lyme from Australian ticks can be validated and hopefully diagnosed and treated instead of gaslit as they have been for decades.

🐃A single QLD tick took down a bull🤯 This tick season the University of Queensland lost a bull to paralysis tick😲 “We had a bull go down, couldn’t stand up. Before we realised it was a paralysis tick, it was too late and he had to be euthanised. And that’s not happened to our memory on this property, ever.” Prof Ala Tabor, an animal health specialist with the Queensland alliance for agriculture and food innovation at the University of Queensland explained. If a paralysis tick can make a bull so sick that it had to be euthanised, human beings are probably at risk of serious illness from a paralysis tick too. 😡 And yet the title of this article only warns that dogs are at risk. What about people? https://bit.ly/4eZRKu6

  • Have you found a good children’s book so they know about ticks being toxic, nasty little monsters🕷️…without scaring them? 😜 📓 Australian author, Kara Perrin has created a colourful cautionary tale in rhyming verse for young children. It’s available on Amazon, or at Dymocks, Morley (WA).👍 🎃 Halloween is coming, so maybe now is a good time to talk about these creepy little questing crawlers, in a light-hearted way of course! 🤔 #tickawareness #tickborneinfections

  • 🙏🏻 Thanks to Lyme Disease UK and to one of their community members for sharing these photos, taken over 4 weeks, which show the classic expanding Erythema Migrans (EM) rash on her daughter’s shoulder following a tick bite. This is one of the key features of the EM rash - it spreads outward from the bite site. ⚠️ The rash does not occur in every case of Lyme disease. Have you seen LDAA's Australian tick bite rash gallery? It’s here: https://lnkd.in/g5d3gGyS 📲 Lyme disease UK’s website shows the different types of EM rashes so you can spot them early: https://lnkd.in/eXCFDhK2 #LymeDisease #EMRash #TickBites #SpreadAwareness

  • 18 chronic Lyme disease patients share their stories of lasting remission after double dapsone treatment in the USA. The Australian government is culpable for denying patients the right to trial medical treatment for persistent, disabling multi-system symptoms after a tick bite. If one of our medical authorities or politicians, or one of their family members lost their health to this extent, would they be content with the current medical advice? Would they settle for going home and living with appalling ongoing symptoms for the rest of their lives? Mark Butler MP there IS treatment. Australians must have the right to try it. Watch these happy patients tell their stories: https://bit.ly/3BR9WaR

  • Many people with chronic Lyme and associated tickborne infections are incapacitated by Dysautonomia that manifests as postural orthostatic tachycardia (POTS). The symptoms can mimic anxiety and are often misinterpreted as such. Thanks to Project Lyme for this excellent video 👏👏

October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month. Project Lyme wants to spotlight postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a type of dysautonomia that involves dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system that manages automatic functions like respiration, heart rate, blood pressure, and more. POTS is often seen in patients with Lyme disease, and it has many overlapping symptoms. Watch this short video to learn more. #projectlyme #lymedisease #lymediseaseawareness #lymewarrior #tickbornediseases #pots #dysautonomia #dysautonomiaawarenessmonth #potsawarenessmonth #symptoms #reels
