Great way to start a conference Bioenergy Australia!
We kicked off our Western Australia Low Carbon Fuels Summit events with site tours of the bp Kwinana Energy Hub, CBH Group Grain Terminal and proposed Cargill canola crushing project site. Thank you to all our knowledgeable hosts who explained how the sites will facilitate Australia’s transition to low carbon liquid fuels. #SAF #renewablediesel #WALowCarbonFuels #biodiesel #biofuels

We are proud to be featured in the "Navigating the Future of Shipping" news-style programme, produced by ITN Business. In our segment, we highlight innovative technologies and strategic partnerships that are helping us drive sustainability in the dry bulk shipping industry. At Oldendorff Carriers, we recognize our responsibility to not only enhance our own operations but contribute to the decarbonization of the entire sector. By putting our knowledge into action and working closely with clients and research partners, we aim to make a broader impact. Our goal is to share our learnings with the wider maritime community, helping the sector become smarter and more sustainable. The programme features key industry and news-style reports along with sponsored editorial profiles and can be watched at the ITN Content Hub.
We hope today's #nauticalnoun doesn't disappoint, make you sad, erode your confidence, or otherwise "knock the wind out of your sails" ⛵ #navy #military #tactics
Great effort by the 50% of poll respondents who identified how much #biofuel it would take to power the world's #seaborne #trade. Of course, biofuels are just one of the alternative fuels that may be used to power #maritime #decarbonisation. The DNV white paper we referenced takes a frank look at the challenge for global shipping in terms of producing enough biofuels as well as the likelihood of this output being allocated to shipping, which is widely considered a hard to abate sector. "According to the paper, global production of advanced biofuels stands at 11 Mtoe per annum in 2023. A significant number of projects involving production from advanced biomass sources are expected to come on-stream between now and 2026, bringing total sustainable biofuel production levels up to 23 Mtoe per annum. Whilst this represents strong growth, it still falls short of the volume of biofuels that shipping would need in order to make a big impact on decarbonization efforts." Read more on DNV's website:
Last year, DNV published a white paper exploring the potential of biofuels to replace diesel as the primary energy source for global shipping. The paper estimated how much biofuel would be needed to meet global maritime demand, presuming the industry had fully decarbonised by 2050 and was primarily using biofuels in combination with energy efficiency measures. #biofuels #shipping #decarbonisation

Bulk Carriers make more port calls in #Australia than any other type of vessel. This is according to the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts' Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE), which collects and analyses transport data. Note that if you grouped all types of Tankers together, they would rank third for port calls behind General Cargo Ships. #Australian #transport #water #maritime #bulkcarriers #vessels #ports

Does your organisation provide emergency towage services to the maritime industry? We’ve opened a request for information on AusTender to help inform AMSA of the current or potential future capabilities for emergency towage services (level 2), noting our current contractual arrangement for these important services ends on 30 April 2025. At AMSA we have multiple levels of emergency towage, from our level 1 dedicated vessel Reef Keeper through to level 2 and 3 arrangements involving fleets of vessels under contract with maritime service providers. Emergency towage is just one way that we protect the safety of seafarers and the marine environment from the impacts of shipping during maritime emergencies. 👉 Read the request for information and respond on AusTender by 15 October 2025: https://lnkd.in/gejM7ggx #Amsa #SafeSeas #CleanSeas #SavingLives
