Today is #WorldSightDay! Mamadou was born with bilateral cataracts that got progressively worse over the next seven years. His eyes struggled to focus on objects in front of him, and he often stumbled when walking. However, when the #GlobalMercy arrived in Sierra Leone, Mamadou was finally able to receive the ophthalmic surgery he needed on board. Mamadou was born with an unusual eye defect that made it difficult for his eyes to focus on any object. For seven years, he struggled with simple actions, like walking and picking up objects. His mother had little success in finding medical help for her precious boy. But then the #GlobalMercy arrived in Sierra Leone, and Mamadou was finally able to receive the ophthalmic surgery he needed on board! When all other efforts had not been successful, Mamadou’s mother now has renewed hope through free, safe surgery.
