MMG Kinsevere was proud to participate and attend the FOSICOMEC, Sino-Congolese Forum on Mining, Economy, and Cooperation held in the Democratic Republic of Congo earlier this month. During the event the Chinese Ambassador Zhao Bin emphasised the significance of building strong partnerships and celebrated the consolidated road construction plans and flagged upcoming works to upgrade the airport and future plans to build a cultural training centre for local youth. Yi Chen, Acting General Manager Kinsevere, expressed his honour in participating in this event, noting the forum's importance in promoting mining cooperation between China and Congo. Prior to the forum, the DRC’s Minister of Mines and Social Affairs toured the nearly completed construction of the Kinsevere Expansion Project, which will enable Kinsevere to process sulphide copper and cobalt, extending the mine's life until at least 2035. Kinsevere's management emphasised their vision for continued expansion and investment in the DRC's copper belt. To end the visit the team inaugurated a new community centre and observed the construction of schools, demonstrating MMG Kinsevere's commitment to sustainable development and local well-being. The forum provided a wonderful opportunity to help showcase the work of Chinese companies in DRC and discuss opportunities for future investment. ---------- MMG Kinsevere a eu l'honneur de participer au FOSICOMEC, le Forum Sino-Congolais sur les Mines, l'Économie et la Coopération, qui s'est tenu en République Démocratique du Congo plus tôt ce mois-ci. Lors de cet événement, l'Ambassadeur de Chine, Zhao Bin, a souligné l'importance de bâtir des partenariats solides. Il a célébré les plans consolidés de construction de routes et a annoncé les travaux à venir pour moderniser l'aéroport ainsi que les projets futurs de construction d'un centre de formation culturelle pour la jeunesse locale. Yi Chen, Directeur Général par Intérim de Kinsevere, s’est dit honoré de participer à cet événement, en soulignant l'importance du forum pour promouvoir la coopération minière entre la Chine et le Congo. En prélude de ce forum, le Ministre des Mines et des Affaires Sociales de la RDC avait visité le chantier presque achevé du Projet d'Expansion de Kinsevere, qui permettra à Kinsevere de traiter le cuivre et le cobalt sulfurés, prolongeant ainsi la durée de vie de la mine jusqu'en 2035 au moins. La direction de Kinsevere a insisté sa vision pour une expansion continue et des investissements dans la ceinture de cuivre de la RDC. Pour clore la visite, l'équipe gouvernementale a inauguré un nouveau centre communautaire et a constaté la construction des nouvelles écoles, démontrant l'engagement de MMG Kinsevere en faveur du développement durable et du bien-être local. Le forum a offert une merveilleuse opportunité de mettre en valeur le travail des entreprises chinoises en RDC et de discuter des opportunités d'investissement futur.

MMG Las Bambas recently held the closing ceremony for the handicraft and dressmaking training program in the Chuicuni community, Challhuahuacho.    Awards were presented during the event by the Eco Moda Sostenible institute, licensed by the Ministry of Education.    "Training is essential for our personal growth. We appreciate Las Bambas for supporting the community by training women in textile production, which boosts our economy," said Jose Luis Yucra Gutiérrez, president of the Chuicuni community.    This initiative, developed through dialogue between the company and the community, enabled participants to learn loom-based handicraft production, including weaving blankets and making garments such as t-shirts, vests, and tracksuits. A delegation from the Chinese Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association recently visited MMG Kinsevere mine. The visit was part of an ongoing effort to strengthen international cooperation and share best practices in the mining industry.     During the visit, the company's management provided a comprehensive overview of the mine's operations, including current projects aimed at expansion and modernisation as well our commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development. Deputy President Wang Jian, who led the delegation, praised the Kinsevere mine's management model, remarking, "Kinsevere's management practices are not just exemplary but set a new standard for the mining industry”.     ----------- Une délégation de l’Association Chinoise de l’Industrie des Métaux Non-Ferreux a récemment visité la mine de Kinsevere de MMG. MMG Las Bambas recently made significant progress on its commitments to the Chicñahui community by providing a dump truck, excavator, and backhoe loader. This equipment will enhance business development, generate income, and improve the community's quality of life. MMG Rosebery’s Environment team Adam Pandelis, Michael Crawford and Danielle Zanetto attended the Clean Air Conference in Hobart.     Adam and Danielle presented Rosebery Mine’s decarbonisation plans and went through a case study on Tailings Storage Facility dust management, which highlighted the extensive controls that are put in place to ensure minimal impact to the Rosebery community.     Michael co-presented with Rebecca Chalmers of Ernst & Young (EY) on a dust instrumentation trial at our Bobadil TSF, the trial allows for better understanding of conditions conducive of dust pick up.     The learnings from the trial will be incorporated within the sites dust management plan.    #wemineforprogress #ourpeople #Rosebery #Roseberymine 

One of the most important lifesaving skills we can learn is First Aid and CPR.    MMG’s Dugald River team was pleased to facilitate two free community First Aid and CPR Training courses at our Cloncurry Community Centre. Khoemacau’s community relations team, along with Boikobo Paya, Khoemacau’s Director of External Affairs and Jorge De Carvalho, MMG’s Head of Social Performance recently attended Dikgotla (a traditional community council) in local communities - Somelo, Toteng, Sehithwa, Makgalo and Komana.     The team also met with landowners of farms adjacent to the mine, the Lake Ngami Conservation Trust and the North West District Council. The meetings were productive and helped enhance understanding of community needs and opportunities.
