We recently had the opportunity to participate in an adrenaline-fueled Khanacross event hosted by Gippsland Car Club, where our own team members put their skills to the test in a series of competitive time trials. At the iconic Bryant Park Hillclimb, a variety of courses were designed, from winding carpark challenges to thrilling downhill runs across the main track. This event marked the first formal motorsport event for many of our members, making the experience all the more impactful as they had the opportunity to step into the driver's shoes. Furthermore, we are especially proud that a third of our drivers were women, reinforcing our commitment to fostering greater representation and opportunity for women in motorsport. In addition to the competition, we were excited to restore and showcase our multi-competition-winning car, M18-C, offering a glimpse to our juniors into the team’s combustion-era legacy. A heartfelt thank you to Gippsland Car Club for hosting such a fantastic day. We look forward to more collaborations and shared experiences in the future!

Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of hosting an event with Motorsport Australia. We welcomed over 200 parents and students to the Woodside Building for Technology and Design on our Clayton campus and spent the day rotating between various activities. The range of activities included a workshop with MMS' powertrain development partner - PEARL (our Power Engineering Advanced Research Laboratory at Monash University). The workshop on motor control using power electronics was adapted from a coursework unit, allowing participants to experience engineering at Monash. Students also had the opportunity to compete in high intensity racing with robotic mini Formula Student cars, which were built by some of our talented team members. We also held an event which reflected an accurate cost cap challenge, enabling students to explore the challenges of compromising a budget in the real world. Another activity involved students taking part in a racing simulation, where they were able to use equipment generously provided by Motorsport Australia. Lastly, there was a remote controlled car event, where students had the opportunity to take part in a simulated skid pad event, as well as compete against each other in teams to try and win on the racecourse. The day concluded with speakers Chantel Collins from Motorsport Australia, as well as Luke Kerr from Real Time Learning Australia. We would like to thank both Chantel and Luke for their captivating speeches. Monash Motorsport expresses our gratitude towards Motorsport Australia for their support and encouragement throughout the years, and we look forward to our next Motorsport Australia event!

Monash Motorsport applications are now open to join our Business department! Our Business Department involves media and marketing, sponsorship, design and organising events. We aim to show the world what our team does, provide the means for our Engineers to build a car and form meaningful connections with external stakeholders. Media and marketing involves exploring both videography and photography, to convey our progress and updates across our social media platforms. This comes hand-in-hand with fostering and maintaining relationships with our sponsors, who have supported the manufacture and improvement of our current car, M24 and the development of our future concepts. Design focuses on creating our car livery and uniform, representing our brand and our team. Through this, you will unlock experience utilising industry-standard applications including the Adobe Suite. We additionally organise major external and internal events, to connect with our community, showcase our latest developments and host other Formula Student teams. Applications are open till October 4. You can apply by visiting our website or using the form linked here https://lnkd.in/gKjAUGsW. For those keen to get involved in the team, this recruitment period offers the opportunity to apply for a hybrid technical and business role after the Summer.

VIDEO UP NOW Formula Student East and Germany are now completed, bringing our 2024 European Campaign to an end. The competitions formed an enriching experience for our whole team, bringing so many new memories and learnings. FS East and Germany formed the very first driverless competitions in Monash Motorsport history, and we are excited to share about all our accomplishments over this period. Our first podium of the campaign was our 2nd place in Engineering Design at FS East, followed by our 3rd place award in Business Plan Presentation and 1st place in Cost at FS Germany, completing the statics trio. After a successful completion of endurance at FSE, our team was excited to place 6th overall in both the DV cup and EV category. Unfortunately, our team did not finish the FSG Endurance after completing 14 out of 18 laps, but we were excited to successfully finish all driverless events at this competition. We look forward to sharing with you a recap video from these competitions. Thank you to Elbflorace Formula Student Team TU Dresden e.V. and High Speed Karlsruhe for helping film some of M24’s dynamic events! Follow the link to the YouTube video here: https://lnkd.in/gGb5eV4r Our car is now on its way back home in a shipping container, scheduled to arrive just before December's FSAE-Australasia, our 5th and final competition of the year.

Monash Motorsport would like to thank our generous sponsor, Valvoline Global Australia & New Zealand, for providing us with their high quality brake fluid and gearbox oil, both of which were instrumental to the success of the team throughout our European campaign. Valvoline’s brake fluid is critical to the function of our vehicle’s braking system. It allows us to effectively transfer hydraulic pressure from the force applied at the pedals to a braking force in the brake calipers. Their brake fluid’s ability to consistently withstand high temperatures experienced by our braking system greatly aids our team in maintaining a strong performance on track. We use the gearbox oil to lubricate M24’s custom planetary gearboxes and effectively dissipate generated heat, greatly prolonging and maintaining the life of the gears inside. Valvoline’s oil provides flawless protection to our vehicle’s high torque gearboxes through all manners of intense acceleration and rapid braking required during testing and competitions. Thus, our team can be confident and reassured that our systems are running smoothly and efficiently. To learn more, please visit their website at https://lnkd.in/gQFWueYr
