‼️ We’re urgently calling on the help of our NET community to reach out to their local and federal MPs to help improve the lives of neuroendocrine cancer patients around Australia. ❓Why Should NET Patients Meet with Local MPs? Meeting with your local Member of Parliament (MP) can be a powerful way to advocate for better diagnosis, treatment, and funding. These face-to-face meetings can be powerful tools for driving legislative change, ensuring equitable access to healthcare, and raising public awareness of Neuroendocrine Cancer and its subsets, Von Hippel Lindau, MEN, SDHB, Paragangliomas and Pheochromocytomas 🔗Ready to help? About us
Formerly the Unicorn Foundation, NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia is the only Australian not-for-profit medical charity focused on neuroendocrine tumours (NET). Formed in 2009, our mission is to improve awareness of neuroendocrine tumours within the medical profession and the general public; foster patient understanding through support groups and raise much needed funding for Australian research in this area. Fortunately, the Australian medical landscape is changing with regards to neuroendocrine tumours with many physicians (Oncologists, Endocrinologists, Gastroenterologists, Radiation Oncologists), Surgeons, Radiologists and Nuclear medicine physicians gaining experience and knowledge. We hope we can work closely, on behalf of neuroendocrine tumour patients and their families with the medical community to achieve our mission.

Our CEO for NECA was honoured to be invited by Medicines Australia to a lunch with Hon Katy Gallagher Minister for Finance, Minster for Women, Minister for the Public Service. There were only ten in attendance for the lunch. The guests included the Senator, #MedicinesAustralia Leadership team, Board members, Patient Voice Initiative and NECA. The lunch was to brief the Minister on the #HTA Review and the recommendations, enhancing consumer voices in the HTA system and the need for reform. This was an amazing opportunity to provide the Minister with insights to the many challenges that patients living with Neuroendocrine Cancer face in accessing medicines and services. It was also an opportunity to discuss the #SenateInquiry 'Equitable access to diagnosis and treatment for individuals with rare and less common cancers, including neuroendocrine cancer' which has recommendations that are aligned with the HTA Review recommendations. #LetsTalkAboutNETs #NeuroendocrineCancer #Advocacy #PatientAdvocacy
