  • Project Spotlight | Mangrove Creek Dam Visitors Centre North was engaged by the Central Coast Council to redevelop the popular sightseeing attraction after the Mangrove Creek Dam Picnic Area was destroyed by the Three Mile Fire in December 2019. The award-winning new facility includes a new interactive visitor education centre, accessible family friendly amenities, water infrastructure upgrades, a children’s play space and revitalised picnic area with new picnic table shelters, bins and bench seating. The project also featured distinctive rammed earth walls which resulted in a high-quality architectural finish and an individuality that blends in seamlessly with the surrounding landscape. During construction, the building design was upgraded from BAL 40 to BAL FZ to provide the asset the best chance of withstanding future bushfires. The design upgrades included the addition of BAL FZ roller shutters, steel fire-rated windows (where not protected by shutters), and upgrades to the facade walling systems to withstand heat and ignition. The site is located within an environmentally sensitive area which required all design and preparatory works to be carefully consideration by North, Central Coast Council, Slater Architects, and broader consultant team. The design was successfully developed to utilise the pre-existing picnic area space, to blend with the surrounding natural environment, and to comply with the bushfire regulations for building in bushfire prone areas. The new extension has recently been celebrated at the recent 2024 Master Builders Association of New South Wales Newcastle Excellence in Building Awards with the project winning the ‘Public Buildings - Under $5m’ award. Once again, thank you to all involved for your significant contributions and congratulations to the entire team involved in the delivery of this project. #buildingwithtrust #yourtrustedbuildingpartner #excellenceinbuilding #excellenceinconstruction #builderoftheyear #awardwinning #projectspotlight

  • Project Spotlight | Port Macquarie Courthouse Extension North was engaged by the Department of Communities and Justice to deliver the award-winning extensions to the existing Port Macquarie Courthouse. The extensions comprised a new court room, security entry way, access ramps, and upgraded landscaping; as well as a refurbishment of the existing registrar’s office. North collaborated closely with the client in the development of our construction methodology to overcome several foreseeable project challenges. These included removing and replacing the main switchboard to accommodate an additional electrical services demand and ensuring the building able to remain operational. Being located within and adjacent to the operational courthouse building, a significant portion of the work was completed out of hours, to minimise noise whilst court was sitting. North was also faced with shipping and quarantine delays to the proposed terracotta façade tiles requiring North to develop a temporary cladding methodology as a mitigation measure to weatherproof and secure the new court rooms until the final product arrived. Sustainability was also a key focus of the project, with the building now featuring a 32kW solar system with rainwater re-use that traps rainwater from the roof, stores and re-uses the water to operate the sanitary amenities within the magistrates’ facilities. Due to the operational requirements of these types of buildings, extensive security provisions were installed into the facility from x-ray screening machines through to CCTV linked via an extensive AV network that connects the courtroom to external prison facilities. The new extension has recently been celebrated at the recent 2024 Master Builders Association of New South Wales Newcastle Excellence in Building Awards with the project winning the ‘Extensions, Renovations and Refurbishments $1m to $5m’ award. Once again, thank you and congratulations to the entire team involved in the delivery of the Port Macquarie Courthouse Extensions. #buildingwithtrust #yourtrustedbuildingpartner #excellenceinbuilding #excellenceinconstruction #builderoftheyear #awardwinning #projectspotlight

  • Project Spotlight | Gosford RSL Club The newly built, award-winning Gosford RSL Club stands proudly in the heart of Gosford on the NSW Central Coast and provides a community-centric development offering state-of-the-art facilities. The development comprises a 3-storey venue featuring a distinctive porte cochere entry, RSL museum, and reception servicing both the RSL Club and the adjoining motel on the ground floor. The first floor contains a cafe, lounge, bar, multiple indoor and outdoor dining options, kids' play area, and teenage retreat. The second floor showcases sophisticated conference and event spaces, sports bar and brewery. An additional 154 car parking spaces are being added on site to accommodate the expected increase in patron numbers. From commencement of works it was imperative that the existing RSL Club continued trading as normal throughout the construction of the new facilities, and North‘s construction methodology was meticulously planned to ensure minimal disruption. To ensure the successful delivery of the project, North worked diligently and collaboratively with the client — Gosford RSL Club, and broader consultant team including The APP Group as project manager and WMK Architecture as architects. North was also purposeful in the engagement of local trade contractors and ensuring our supply chain was kept local and Australian made, where possible. The Gosford RSL Club exemplifies construction excellence, architectural brilliance, community celebration, heritage preservation and innovation. This was further recognised and celebrated at the recent 2024 Master Builders Association of New South Wales Newcastle Excellence in Building Awards with the project receiving the ‘Commercial Projects – $30m to $50m’ award. We are proud to have been able to work with a client who has aligned values and strong commitment to the Central Coast to deliver this landmark project. Once again, thank you to all involved for your significant contributions and congratulations to the entire team involved in the delivery of the Gosford RSL Club. #buildingwithtrust #yourtrustedbuildingpartner #excellenceinbuilding #excellenceinconstruction #builderoftheyear #awardwinning #projectspotlight

  • Investing in the Future: Mentoring, Training & Support  Our monthly apprentice, cadet and leading hand meetings at various project sites offer a fantastic opportunity for hands-on learning across a range of projects as well as team building.  Last Friday, July 5th, we gathered at the Gosford Regional Library site, enjoying perfect weather for a comprehensive site tour!  Our junior team members had the chance to connect with peers and managers over lunch, taking time to catchup and build our supportive culture.  We're committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders, and these meetings are a vital part of their development journey.
